Vacations & Travel magazine, Australia's longest-running travel publication established 36 years ago, has officially re-launched, with the release of its new autumn 2019 issue.
The new-look magazine features a redesigned masthead; a clean, premium and contemporary design approach throughout its pages; and the introduction of new editorial sections. The magazine was officially unveiled at a special evening relaunch celebration on Monday 25 March at stylish new Sydney cocktail bar, Maybe Sammy.
The autumn issue kicks off with an Adventure theme, featuring first-person stories written about such destinations as Colorado, Cambodia, Vietnam, New Zealand, South Georgia Island, Cook Islands and Turkey to name a few. A number of new sections have been introduced including Vacation Essentials, V&T Creatives, Trending, V&T Family, sustainability features, more food-related travel stories and a new design section.
“We have retained the core elements of what our readers have loved about the magazine for nearly four decades – stunning photography, first-person stories written by professional journalists, and coverage of both new destinations and uncovering new angles of wellvisited regions,” said editor, Katrina Holden. “We also continue our Tried & Tested reviews of hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, spas and aircraft – as well as cover the latest news in travel, cruise, spa and wellness, sustainable travel and eco-tourism, wine and dine, and hotels and resorts.”
Owned and published by US-based Morris Media Network, publishers of the international in-bound Where Traveler title, Vacations & Travel has wide distribution across key visitor destinations in 4- and 5-star hotel rooms across Australia allowing a massive readership in these locations. Other distribution points include airports, newsagents and a dedicated subscriber base.
The net distribution of Vacations & Travel is 40,000 copies per issue, giving the title the highest distribution of any travel magazine in Australia. This quarter, Morris Media Network has taken the deliberate step to move to a readership audit through Enhanced Media
Metrics Australia (EMMA) – powered by global research experts Ipsos and Nielsen, which measures print and digital total audience and is the system used by a number of mainstream publications including Australian Gourmet Traveller, Australian Geographic, Delicious, MINDFOOD, Readers Digest Australia and Vogue Australia. The Vacations & Travel audit is currently underway and official statistics will be available in May.
The magazine's website, vacationstravel.com, has been rebuilt to be more in synergy with the new print design. The weekly EDM has also been redesigned with a modern new look, making its way to 24,500 subscribers each week. The Vacations & Travel social media presence continues to grow with a combined following of more than 86,000 across its various platforms.
“The momentum of our print redesign and brand refresh will extend to the digital space, where we are already working on new ways to share travel inspiration across digital and video formats,” said Adam Davy, publisher Vacations & Travel.
“Utilising the networks and reach of our US parent publishers, we are also able to offer innovative solutions to our partners to reach their desired audience through such techniques as targeted programmatic campaigns geo-located to specific Australian and international travel-seeking audiences,” said Davy.
The relaunched autumn issue went on sale on Thursday 28 March. The winter issue of Vacations & Travel will have a 'Culture' theme, and will go on sale in late June.
