MAMMOTHS COME TO THE AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM

The world of woolly mammoths is being recreated at Mammoths – Giants of the Ice Age, an exhibition exclusive to the Australian Museum in Sydney.

Opening tomorrow, the exhibition was secured with the support of the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

The interactive showcase includes mammoth skeletons and animations, plus the most complete and best preserved mammoth ever found; a 42,000-year-old baby woolly mammoth called Lyuba, found in Siberia in 2007. This is Lyuba’s first visit to the southern hemisphere.

NSW Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the exhibition will give people across Australia a rare opportunity to explore the iconic age of mammoths, their habitats and hunters, from 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago.
