Events in Sydney

Australia Day

  • 7-29 January: Sydney Festival presents the biggest and best of the world's performing and visual arts, all coming together in an avalanche of artistic activity. From the central business district to Parramatta, Sydney Festival brings to life unique spaces including the Festival Village in Hyde Park, Sydney Town Hall and The Domain, as well as making the most of Sydney's best venues including Carriageworks, Riverside Theatre and Sydney Opera House.
  • 26 January: Every January Australians come together to celebrate their national day, reflecting on the nation's diversity and achievements, as well as its past and future. And, true to tradition, Australia Day 2017 will deliver plenty of lively events and great activities to participate in and enjoy. More information on events across Sydney is available here.
  • 26 January: Yabun Festival is an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures held on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people in Sydney.The Yabun Stage is a showcase of some of the best Indigenous music talent in the country. Past performers include Archie Roach, Dan Sultan and Jessica Mauboy.
  • 8-14 January: The Apia International Sydney 2017 will take place at the state-of-the-art Sydney Olympic Park Tennis centre. There will be a total of 10 sessions - six day sessions and four night sessions.
