Port Stephens will be showcased to audiences around Malaysia, when three social media influencers from AirAsia X travel to the region to experience the local food and popular adventure activities.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter and Central Coast Scot MacDonald said the initiative is part of a joint international marketing campaign between the airline and the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW and aims to increase visitation from Malaysia to Sydney and Regional NSW.
“With more and more travellers seeking ideas and inspiration via social media, we are confident that this special Malaysian delegation will encourage visitors to plan a trip to this special part of Regional NSW, helping to provide a significant tourism boost,” Mr MacDonald said.
“From dolphin watching and quad biking across sand dunes to visiting Medowie Macadamias and tasting local produce, the social media influencers will be sharing their first-hand experiences online, collectively reaching more than 430,000 followers.”
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the campaign will be promoted across the AirAsia X marketing channels including digital and mobile display, print advertising, radio and social media.
“We have an important goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020 and the NSW Government remains focused on securing strategic partnerships with airlines and extending the share of voice for NSW destinations, such as the beautiful Port Stephens,” Mr Ayres said.
The social media visit is taking place over 17-18 November. Influencers taking part in the campaign include Dior Yaw (@DiorYaw), Linda Law (@Nanabwincess) and May Ho (@MayHo).
