Located along the Zuojiang River in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape was recognized for its uniqueness in vividly combining the landscape and rock art with the social life of the Luoyue people.
The landscape was formed 200 million years ago, and the images and symbols on the rocks depict the bronze drum culture once widespread in the region.
The rock art landscape is the first of its kind for China’s heritage, and brings the number of the Chinese properties on the World Heritage List to 49.
