Disney recently announced plans to begin selling tickets on March 28 to Shanghai Disneyland. The much-anticipated resort opens on June 16.
The park will feature six themed areas, two hotels, a shopping district and 99 acres of gardens, lakes and parkland.
Daily ticket prices will range from 499 yuan ($76) to 370 yuan ($56). The park will offer discounts for children, seniors and visitors with disabilities.
The park is expected to spark additional economic growth in the vicinity. It is estimated that for every 1 yuan spent on resort admission tickets, another 8 yuan will be spent on dining, hotels and shopping.
Shanghai Disneyland has been under construction for more than six years now. June 16-that is, 6-16-2016-was selected as the date of opening because the three 6s are believed to be auspicious, heralding success.
The pent-up interest in the park is expected to spark a retail boom in Shanghai. According to Centaline Property Agency, the average price of commercial properties within a 1.5-mile radius of Shanghai Disney Resort has grown more than 300 percent over the past five years. The growth rate is among the highest for premier locations such as Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road and Lujiazui.
Hotel companies have been developing new properties around Shanghai Disneyland. Department stores and outlets are also under development around the resort.
