I had the pleasure of staying three nights at The Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon when I was attending this years International Travel Expo in Ho Chi Minh City.
Lobby
I was warmly greeted by the door attendants who opened the front doors and carried my bags to the reception desk. I was quickly checked into my room, which was ready for me even though I arrived in the morning. The lobby has plenty of comfortable seating, which came in handy during my stay as it was the meeting point for for my small group of fellow travellers before we departed for our day and evening activities.
Atrium
The most spectacular feature of the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon is the atrium that soars up to the inside void to the 21st floor. All guest room doors lead onto to the walkways that overlook this atrium on its three sides. There is a striking arrangement of lanterns hanging down from the top of the atrium.

The Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon offers a range of hotel accommodation to choose from. There are 319 rooms and 17 suites located on its 21 floors. These include City View, River View and Club Rooms, or Deluxe, Executive, and Presidential Suites.
I was pleased to stay in a lovely City View Room on the 19th floor that had a wonderful sight of the lit up city at night through the large window.
Even though it was hot and humid outside, my room was made comfortable by the individual climate control air-conditioning. A mini-bar kept my bottles of water cool, and had a range of drinks and beverages that could be purchased.
The large room was well furnished with a sofa, coffee table, alarm clock, in-room safe, power outlet with dual voltage adaptors, writing desk and chair, and iron and ironing board.
There were a total of 3 phones provided - one on the desk, one by the bed and one in the bathroom.

I had a choice of using high speed internet with my laptop either through the wired connection or with WiFi. This was complimentary for me, as I am a member of Marriott Rewards.
Entertainment in my room was provided by an alarm clock radio and large LCD television that offered a choice of premium movie channels or international cable/satellite TV stations.
The very clean bathroom featured a shower/bath tub combination, double vanity, lighted makeup mirror, hair dryer, bath robes and slippers. A quality range of complimentary toiletries was kindly provided.
I had a restful night's sleep on the comfy king sized bed with pillowtop mattress, plush featherbed, down comforter, custom duvet and luxury cotton linens.
The Renaissance Spa provided a revitalizing massage or pampering pedicure/pedicure. On offer are a blend of Eastern and Western spa therapies and massages, including signature aromatherapy treatments. There is also a steam room. There is a fee for using the Spa services, and bookings are necessary.
Rabin Restaurant provides traditional Cantonese restaurant fare, prepared with a modern twist. It is open for lunch and dinner.
The Atrium Lounge restaurant offers delicious cocktails and inventive food and is a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon has a gym equipped with state of the art cardiovascular equipment and weights, a sauna, and a rooftop swimming pool for the free use of hotel guests. I took the time to use the sauna on several occasions and I found the pool refreshing to swim in. The view from the hotel roof top pool deck area is amazing, as you have a birds eye view of the other city buildings, and you can gaze down on all the boats and barges gliding along the Saigon River.

There is a bar on the roof top providing drinks and snacks for those who who prefer to relax while taking in the views on the chairs and lounges provided. Every weekend there is a rooftop pool BBQ, held on Friday and Saturday nights.

I went there each morning and enjoyed the delicious Asian and Western cuisine at the buffet breakfast. There was a large range of cereals, fruits, yogurts, breads, cold and hot dishes, an egg station that cooked your choice of egg dishes, and waffles that you could make yourself. Tea or coffee was brought to you by the attentive breakfast staff.

The Atrium Lounge restaurant offers delicious cocktails and inventive food and is a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Lobby Lounge serves light fare and specialty beverages. It is an ideal place for a quick bite or cup of coffee.
Location
Situated in a superb location for both business and leisure travellers in Ho Chi Minh City, the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon is in walking distance to many of the major shopping centres, department stores and tourist attractions in District 1. It is near the bustling Ben Thanh Market, Reunification Palace, Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Tao Dan park. I found it very pleasant to walk along the river, or along the new Duong Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in the cool of the evening.
The Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon offers personalised, attentive and professional service and is a delight to stay in. I look forward to again staying at the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon the next time I travel to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam
