His distinguished photography career began with his time spent in the navy during the 60s. His ability to evolve and adapt to change has made him synonymous with digital nature photography – having over 100,000 images in his digital library! His multi-award winning work is published widely in calendars and books. Head to www.steveparish-natureconnect.com.au to have a look.

The shape of Hervey Bay combined with the expansive coastline of Fraser Island forms a naturally protected and calm playground for the humpback whales every year from July to November.

Every year an estimated 17,000 humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to the warm waters of the north to breed. On their return journey south they come in to the waters of the Great Sandy Strait where those lucky enough to be on the decks of the Hervey Bay whale watching fleet are entertained and amazed.

The humpbacks slap their fins and tails, show off their incredible power and grace with a breach and then pop up alongside the viewing decks – it's often hard to figure out who is watching who!
