Greenland Ahoy!

Greenland
There are very few places in the world with landscapes quite as dramatic as Greenland. But with Aurora Expeditions, passengers can enter a world bursting with sculpted bergs, granite rock faces towering about iridescent fjords, and spectacular National Parks home to playful dolphins, breaching fun whales, and the mighty polar bear.

This astounding voyage, aptly named the Jewels of the Arctic, offers the chance to walk amidst spectacular wildlife in Spitsbergen, Zodiac cruise among glacier fronts in the Arctic seas, and of course, explore the endless wonders of Greenland's iridescent ice-scapes.

Aurora Expeditions takes travellers to a magnificent gallery of breathtakingly beautiful glacial fronts along Greenland's east coast. The 54-passenger expeditionary ship, Polar Pioneer winds its way through a land where glaciers carve through spectacular mountains and yet are sadly receding in the warmth of the changing climate.

See the jagged coastline of Scoresby Sund, which offers an incredible landscape with the world's biggest fjord system, and is the birthplace of Greenland's most dazzling icebergs. Weaving Zodiacs through a maze of grounded icebergs, some more than 30 metres high, travellers will see sparkling mountains jewelled with deep green tunnels and aquamarine lakes.

And led by a team of Polar specialists, Aurora Expedition's will take passengers to meet the indigenous communities that live in the remotely beautiful environment of Ittoqqortoormiit. Listening to ancient folklore and local knowledge about their Arctic home, cultures and beliefs, it's is a rare insight into a way of life that, for many of us, is otherworldly.

And with adventure at the forefront of every expedition, those that want to get a little bit closer to the action can kayak through interconnected waterways, enjoying a unique perspective on polar bear watching whilst looking out for the incredible narwhal, nicknamed the unicorn of the sea!

This astounding landscape is a real highlight of the 14-day Jewels of the Arctic voyage sailing from Longyearbyen to Reykjavik, and with complimentary photography workshops on board, travellers will return home with their memories magnificently captured in images that will last forever.

Aurora Expeditions (www.auroraexpeditions.co.uk/020 7228 1230) offer a 14 day Jewels of the Arctic voyage starting from Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen, to Reykjavik, Iceland via Greenland. Prices start from £4,390 per person based on a triple share cabin including all meals, excursions and lectures, and excluding international flights.
