CINZ launches Emerging Talent series

Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) has launched a new networking and educational series aimed at developing the careers of its members’ future leaders.

Targeting up-and-coming professionals in New Zealand’s business events industry, the ‘Emerging Talent’ initiative combines professional development with network building opportunities.

CINZ Chief Executive Sue Sullivan launched the series at MEETINGS 2015.
She says it ticks all the boxes for people like event coordinators and sales account managers, who are looking to take their careers to the next level.

“Emerging Talent will provide our industry’s future leaders with personal and professional development opportunities, as well as a solid network base to support their development.”

The Emerging Talent series, which starts in Auckland on July 27, will have an educational aspect, with short presentations made by industry leaders on topics related to their career development.

The first presenter is Laurel McLay, an accredited thought leader mentor, successful entrepreneur and personal brand specialist.

“We are delighted to have Laurel as our first Emerging Talent speaker. She is known for her enthusiasm and energy, and has a gift for helping people get clarity on their value and uniqueness.”

Sue Sullivan is overseeing the project and is assisted by a small committee representing CINZ member organisations, including Andy Smith, General Manager of High Definition Audio Visual, Leigh Higgins of Sudima Hotels and David Doughty from Urban Gourmet.

Andy Smith originally pitched the idea and says he is delighted CINZ has got behind the project.
“Emerging Talent will allow the future leaders of our industry to build their professional network, early in their career,” he says.

Attendees will be surveyed following each session to ask what topics they would like to hear from future speakers.

“We encourage business owners and managers to discuss this opportunity with their staff and get involved in building their future. These sessions can become part of members’ perfomance reviews and objectives,” Sue Sullivan says.

There will be a small charge to attend each event, but the aim is to make it totally affordable for businesses of all sizes.

The first event starts at 4pm on Monday July 27 at the Bluestone Room, Darby St, Auckland.
