Aberdeen Highland Games 2015

Aberdeen Highland Games
Held each year on the first Saturday in July, the Aberdeen Highland Games in NSW Australian  have become Aberdeen's most spectacular event, drawing hundreds of people to the township every year to enjoy the festivities.

The Games begin with a parade of bands, clan representatives and others that leads into the Massed Band Salute and Chieftain's Address that officially opens the day. Throughout the day there will be fun for all the family - there will be Highland and Country Dancing, Pipe Band displays, Strong Man events with the Tartan Warriors to enjoy as well as tug-of-war, egg tosses, three-legged races, and the famed Kilted Dash to participate in. A multitude of stores and stands will surround the area selling all manner of Scottish heirlooms and souvenirs, clothing and garb, and food and drink to complete your day.

“As the massed pipe bands begin to play and march down the grounds, the crowd becomes silent and in awe of this great spectacle of colour and sound. It still affects me, even after 12 years” - Barrie Lawn, President of the Aberdeen Highland Games.

The Aberdeen Highland Games is held at Jefferson Park on the banks of the Hunter River in beautiful Aberdeen, New South Wales. Access is via the New England Highway with free car parking provided. The main events including Band Parade, Massed Band Salute, Highland and Country Dancing, Strong Man and Novelty events will be held on Harrison Oval with a multitude of stores and stands surrounding the area selling all manner of Scottish heirlooms and souvenirs, clothing and garb, and food and drink to complete your day.
