Haven Hotel Glebe, Sydney is a 4-star boutique hotel located in the cosmopolitan inner city suburb of Glebe, just 5 minutes drive from the Sydney CBD & Darling Harbour. It features 57 lifestyle hotel rooms designed for the savvy urban traveler who appreciates coziness, creativeness and connectivity.

Reception service is available 24 hours, with English, Mandarin and Cantonese spoken by the staff. The entry lobby is currently accessed through the rear ground floor car park due to the hotel refurbishment taking place at the moment. My check-in went smoothly and I was greeted with a warm welcome.

All of the 57 King Balcony Rooms and Queen Rooms are designed to create an interesting, cozy and delicate ambiance while offering the latest modern comforts and conveniences.

The King Balcony room I enjoyed was accessed with the card on the ElectroMagnetic door lock. It was spotlessly clean - no cobwebs, mould, dust or stains anywhere to be seen. The room had a 40″ flat-screen televisions, electronic safe and plenty of conveniently located power outlets. The room was made pleasant during the cool autumn evenings with the individual air conditioning controls. I used my laptop with the complimentary wireless internet access provided in the room. It was good to see artworks in the room featuring Glebe.

A wonderful nights sleep was had on the ‘Sealy’ five-star hotel-standard king bed, the large King feather pillows and the luxury feather duvets. My room was quite, so I had un undisturbed sleep all night with no interference from road noise or other guests.

I enjoyed the complimentary coffee and tea made with the quick heating electric kettle and milk from the mini fridge. Provided in the room were an iron and ironing board, which I did not use.

The clean, white bathroom had a large rain shower with plenty of hot water, fluffy clean towels and a Philips hairdryer. It was good to see that The Haven Glebe is advocating for a healthy and more sustainable world by providing luxurious L’OCCITANE Dispenser Shower Products. These included:-

Verveine Liquid soap - Freshly natural. Formulated with a vegetal soap base and wheat proteins to cleanse without drying.
Aromachology Shower gel - Formulated with mint, pine and rosemary essential oils, this shower gel refreshes and revitalizes the body and mind.
Aromachology Shampoo - Formulated with five essential oils (angelica, lavender, geranium, ylang ylang and sweet orange), this shampoo gives shine, vitality and softness to hair.
Aromachology Conditioner - This pleasant and soothing conditioner assists in detangling hair, leaving it soft and smooth.

The Haven Hotel Glebe provides a variety of facilities and services, including a business Centre, 24-hour reception and secure parking.

It has special offers available to make your stay cost less, such as when you stay for three nights you save 10%, and when you stay for five nights you save 25%. Students can save 5% when they make bookings direct with The Haven for themselves, family or friends.

The Haven Hotel Glebe

The Haven Hotel is located in the charming village atmosphere of Glebe among many historic homes and mansions. Opposite The Haven Hotel is a small group of interesting (and affordable) cafes, restaurants, bakery, newsagent, florist, butcher, and other shops. I enjoyed a lovely cappuccino coffee from the local BBQ chicken shop (i-Chook Flame Grill Chicken, 319 Glebe Point Rd) and a midday meal from the local fish and chip shop (Fish Bite, 329 Glebe Point Road).

If you have some spare time, Glebe is pleasant suburb to walk around. I have given details of a self-guided walk starting from The Haven in the previous article ( http://theholidayandtravelmagazine.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/glebe-history-self-guided-walk.html ) The Haven Hotel Glebe is not far from University of Sydney (1.5 mi / 2.4 km), Darling Harbour (1.3 mi / 2.1 km), Sydney Opera House (2.8 mi / 4.4 km), and the Sydney Harbour Bridge (2.9 mi / 4.7 km).

To get to The Haven Hotel Glebe you can drive and use their undercover car park, take bus 431 or 433 from the city (bus tickets can be purchased from the newsagent opposite), or take the near-by light rail from Central Station.

The exciting thing about The Haven Hotel Glebe is that it is coming to the last stages of its total refurbishment. In recognition of this, The Haven is offering discounted rates for a limited time. There is still some work going on with external walls, high-tech gym, Zen courtyard and a new lobby and lifts – but the guest rooms have all been refurbished and look great! I can not wait to once again stay at The Haven Glebe after the refurbishment is complete so that I can experience its total new look. I recommend this hotel as a wonderful place to stay when visiting Sydney for business or leisure.
