The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has released the 2013 tourism Fact and Figures for the region.
The pocket size edition contains tables and figures on tourist arrivals by country, year, market share and percentage growth as well as information about accommodation, National Tourism budgets and country profiles.
“The SPTO is pleased to release the second edition of the Facts and Figures booklet for 2013. We believe this pocket sized booklet is apt for quick information on tourism statistics for the South Pacific and will be very useful for students and research”, SPTO Chief Executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi says.
According to the facts 1,678, 771 tourists visited the region in 2013, 17,250 less than 2012 whilst Australia continues to dominate the market share with over 582,143 tourists visiting our shores.
In 2013 Fiji continued to lead in the tourist arrivals market share with 657,706, whilst Papua New Guinea attracted 182,188 visitors and French Polynesia recording 164.393 tourist arrivals.
The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has also released the quarterly tourism review for the third quarter of 2014. The report presents a review of the performance of the tourism industry PICs in the third quarter of 2014 and the year ending September 2014, with comparative data for the same periods of the previous year in the South Pacific region as a whole, as well as in individual member countries.
