Penang Second Bridge and Ferry Experience

Penang Bridge
Ideal for well-travelled tourists, the ride lets you experience the journey to the Penang mainland via the Second Penang Bridge and ferry. By Cheng Sim.

The ‘Penang Second Bridge and Ferry Experience’ invites you to explore the Penang mainland through two popular modes of transportation namely Penang's newly constructed Second Bridge, the longest one to date in Southeast Asia, and Malaysia's oldest ferry service.

The trip begins from the Tourist Information Centre at The Whiteaways Arcade at 5pm and the group will travel by van to the Penang mainland via Penang Second Bridge. Throughout the 30-minute journey, don’t lose sight of the passing scenery of the first and second Penang bridges backdropped by the calming sea.

Once the group arrives at the Penang Second Bridge, you have 20 minutes to immerse yourself in the bridge’s stunning architectural design and views of fish and shrimp farms as well as mangroves along the way.

The van arrives at Auto-City at approximately 6.35pm. Hop off and enjoy complimentary refreshments at Auto-City’s food court, Xuan Garden. While you’re here, you could also complement your drinks with a side of Chinese chicken rice, Korean ramen, Malay rice sets and more. Other local eateries and fast food chains are scattered within the vicinity with the likes of Nando’s to Nasi Kandar Pelita to choose from.

Once you’re full and ready to take on Auto-City’s medley of offerings, choose between post-dinner cocktails at the nearby bars and clubs such as BED and Room or go for some retail therapy at the nearby street market teeming with clothes, accessories and handbags. Don’t leave Auto-City without a snap shot of the beautifully-lit Love Bridge.

The trip wraps up at 8pm. You'll travel back to Penang island via ferry, which is a 30-minute drive from Auto-City. Once the van is parked in the ferry, hop off and enjoy the sea breeze. You’ll get to see George Town’s night skyline. The ferry experience lasts for 20 minutes, after which the van disembarks at Raja Tun Uda ferry terminal and heads off to the Tourist Information Centre for the final pit stop.
