Hardie Grant Media Launches SHOP Sydney in Chinese Language

Hardie Grant Media (HGM), Australia's leading travel publisher, has launched SHOP Sydney, created and written specifically for Chinese visitors and locals.

The new (Simplified) Chinese edition complements the existing, successful English version of the guide, SHOP Sydney, which has been published for the last four years.

As specialist travel publishers for the visitor market, HGM recognised and responded to a niche in the Chinese visitor market with the launch of SHOP Sydney in Chinese.

The official launch was held last week at Sydney's China Republic restaurant. Hardie Grant Media's Managing Director Jeff Trounce spoke of the growth in the Chinese visitor market and the need for a dedicated publication for this affluent and high-spending visitor. More than 420,000 Chinese visitors arrived in Sydney last financial year, and these visitors spent more than $1.5 billion dollars in that period.

“This market segment will continue to surge,” said Trounce. “Yet up until now there has been no high-quality guide created for these people, focused on shopping. We intend to do what we are known for – deliver the best content to the right audience at the right time. Together with our Chinese Melbourne guide in print and online, our presence in this sector will be significant.”

HGM also publish The Official Sydney Guide in partnership with Destination NSW, City of Sydney and Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA).

SHOP Sydney – Chinese edition

The newly launched SHOP Chinese is a glossy and inspirational shopping guide to Sydney. Created specifically for Chinese visitors and locals, the content showcases and celebrates the city's best luxury shopping and products, the most exciting shopping experiences and most fashionable areas. The guide also delves into the property market and features some of the best restaurant and dining options on offer in the city. SHOP Chinese complements existing publication, SHOP Sydney – an insider's shopping guide to the city, which covers the best shopping precincts, fashion, designers, news, expert advice and more.

More than 80,000 copies are printed and distributed annually through Sydney Airport, Hotels and Visitor Centres. The guide is published twice a year, in Autumn/ Winter and Spring/Summer.
