“Big Mother” street art makes its splashing presence in London

A 125 ft mural has been painted by renowned artist Stik on one side of the condemned council state in West London. This is UK’s tallest piece of street art.

The piece has been entitled “Big Mother” and was completed only last week. There is a mother and child depicted in line drawing and the duo is looking upon the council estate and the luxury apartments built in the area.

The artists say that the piece is depicting the lack of social housing in the area. The figures are looking down sadly at the luxury and developed buildings in the place.

The project has taken a year to complete with the crane hosting Stik 38.2 meters into the air.

The painting can be viewed across west London and also from the planes leaving Heathrow.

The building on which the painting has been hosted, the Charles Hocking House, was built in 1969 and was aimed to provide affordable housing for families. But the council has decided to demolish the structure recently.

This is an endeavor to bring back street art by the arts group Manager for Acton Arts Forum.

The team will try to brighten the dark and dingy places with 15-16 pieces of artwork to give a cheerful look to the city.
