The Festival is one of Australia’s favourite annual cultural events, presenting the very best of the performing and visual arts from around the country and the world, and is once again being supported by the NSW Government through Arts NSW and Destination NSW.
This year will see over 495 performances packed into 18 days, culminating with the much-loved Sydney Ferrython on Australia Day.
From the outdoor concerts in the Domain to the buzzing festival village in Hyde Park and the wide range of events in Sydney’s west, the Festival has something to suit every resident and visitor.
The centrepiece event of this year’s Festival is Tabac Rouge, supported by the NSW Government through Destination NSW. It is an extravagant mix of dance and theatre directed, choreographed and performed by one of the world’s greatest circus performers, James Thierrée. It will appear at the Sydney Theatre in Walsh Bay from 8–23 January.
In the coming weeks 974 artists will perform from 30 countries at 25 venues, with 18 world premieres, 11 Australian premieres and 18 Australian exclusives. In addition to this, 85 of the 179 events and 138 of the 495 performances will be free to the public.
