Spectacular 2015 Kiama Visitors Guide Launches in Time for Busy Summer Season

Kiama Tourism has unveiled the 2015 Kiama Visitors Guide just in time for the summer holiday season, revealing a stunning showcase of attractions, experiences, accommodation and dining options for tourists and locals alike to discover and savour in summer, and all year round.

From exploration and sophistication, to relaxation and degustation, the Kiama Visitors Guide clearly shows the region as a place that truly has it all, jam-packed with a plethora of options to suit every budget and area of interest.

Kiama Tourism Operations Manager, Lisa Kelsey says the 2015 Kiama Visitors Guide has enjoyed record support from local business, as it's increasingly viewed as a highly valuable marketing initiative in a competitive tourism environment.

“The days where tourists are satisfied with a few basic brochures in a hotel room highlighting three or four local attractions are well and truly gone. Visitors to our region expect to see all the information they need in a professional, engaging format – a quality publication they can take home and have on the coffee table. The Kiama Visitors Guide is one of the best examples in Australia of a local tourism organisation working in partnership with the local community to meet this expectation,” she said.

The coveted front cover of the Kiama Visitor's Guide features a stunning photograph taken at Blowhole Point at sunrise, featuring the iconic Kiama Lighthouse. The image was captured by award-winning local photographer Phil Winterton, of Phil Winterton Photography.

Phil comments: “I remember taking this photograph and how it encapsulated in my mind what Kiama is all about – beautiful sunrises, tall Norfolk Pines and people enjoying the fresh air and the outdoors at this iconic landmark. This is why I love Kiama and will never look back on the big decision that it was for me and my family to move here”.

The launch of the 2015 Kiama Visitors Guide comes as Destination NSW reveals spectacular results for Kiama as part of the “Unspoilt” marketing campaign currently promoting the South Coast region. “Unspoilt” highlights the natural beauty and simple pleasures that can be experienced by people of all ages, and interim statistics show Kiama businesses are reaping the benefits, with over 34,000 click-throughs to the websites of local attractions and businesses.

Ms Kelsey is thrilled with the results of the campaign so far: “This is a fantastic outcome for the local community. The “Unspoilt” campaign has really tapped into people's desire for the holidays they enjoyed as children – uncomplicated fun against a stunning natural backdrop. Whether it's a family vacation, couples retreat or a weekend getaway with close friends, there is something to suit everyone in Kiama.”

Kiama Tourism is currently organising the popular New Year's Eve Fireworks which will take place on Black Beach. The spectacular family-friendly event is the largest fireworks display between Sydney and Melbourne and is expected to draw in crowds in their thousands.
