New VISA policy for Chinese tourists a boon for U.S. tourism

A new visa policy that allows Chinese tourists to visit U.S. multiple times over a 10-year period is being considered as a boon for U.S. tourism industry. According to the federal government, this change in rule can have a huge influence on economy, predicting the impact could be $85 billion by 20121.

“One simple decision like this … is going to reap tremendous benefits to the country,” said Chris Thompson, president and CEO of Brand USA, the public-private partnership responsible for marketing the United States as a travel destination.

It’s a known fact that Chinese visitors spend the most while travelling. In 2013, there were about 1.8 million Chinese visitors to the U.S., contributing about $21 billion to the economy.
