WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT THE MIDDLE EAST HOTEL AWARDS

The prestigious Middle East Hotel Awards 2014 ceremony, overall sponsored by Porsche Al Nabooda Automobiles, took place on Thursday 5thJune at Atlantis, The Palm with the industry’sleaders and influencers in attendanceand was formally opened with a welcome address by IssamKazim, CEO, Dubai Corporation of Tourism & Commerce Marketing.

This year, the event saw more than 30 shortlisted hotels and suppliers compete for prizes in 18 categories.Brands included DusitThani, Hyatt, Armani, Jumeirah, Hilton, Conrad, Premier Inn, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria plus many othersacross the Middle East – Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Jordan and Kuwait.

The Middle East is recognised worldwide for its ability to innovate, create, lead and achieve in the field of hospitality and the Awards is where industry benchmarks are set and recognized by the influential panel of independent experts who judge each category and hotel nomination.

This year, in keeping with the changing hotel landscape in the Middle East, the judges added 7 new categories including Best Budget Hotel, Best New Hotel, Best Boutique Hotel, Best Environmental Innovation, Best Community Engagement Best Recreational Facilities and Best Hotel Partner.

MeelisKuuskler, Hospitality Partnership and Chairman of the Judges comments: “The hospitality industry in the Middle East todayis becoming such an incredible benchmark when it comes to luxury travel and the level of this year’s entries just confirms the commitment of the key industry players in meeting the expectation of the demanding, high net worth international clients”.

Among many well-respected names, local celebrity Cara Jane Roberts hosted the ceremony.There was also a high-energy dance performance by Showstoppers.

A special award was presented by Lindt’sMaitre Chocolatier to Chef Gilles Perrin and SaschaTriemer Executive Chef at Atlantis Hotel on behalf of the 400 guests at the awards.

Christine Davidson, The Hotel Show Event Director said: “The Middle East Hotel Awards together with The Hotel Show Dubai are now the main platforms for the industry to set trends and benchmarks. We expect this year’s Hotel Show to be the launch pad for suppliers who are seeking business from the huge growth in hotel projects as we approach 2020”.

The Hotel Show Dubai, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre 28-30 September 2014 is expected to have over 500 exhibitors both from GCC and from around the worldincluding Germany, France, Turkey, Italy, Spain, UK, Greece, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Cyprus, Philippines, USA, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Korea to name a few.
