Vietnam Tourism Office launched in Japan

In a bid to help Vietnamese localities boost tourism promotion activities in the Japanese market, the Vietnam Tourism Association has launched a representative office for Vietnamese tour operators in Japan in the first of its kind overseas, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports.

The office is tasked with supporting travel agents from both countries to attract tourists.

Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung said the office would meet rising demand for cultural exchanges between the two countries and enhance the development of their tourism sector. Hung believes the office will play an active role in tourism promotion activities in introducing Vietnam’s potential to Japanese tourists.

Nguyen Van Tuan, general director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said Vietnam has set the target of one million tourist arrivals from Japan.

He said Vietnam will focus on developing attractive tours to meet requirements of Japanese tourists including ensuring security and food safety.

Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) president Ryoichi Matsuyama said in order to increase tourist numbers from both countries, Japan and Vietnam should foster information exchange on their unique products.

More than 600,000 Japanese tourists visited Vietnam last year.
