NSW SHOWCASED DURING ATE14

Destination NSW, together with NSW suppliers, has been promoting Sydney and NSW to tourism retailers and wholesalers at the 2014 Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE14).

ATE14 is Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism, business-to-business event.

The week began with the International Media Marketplace, where Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase presented to more than 70 media and industry colleagues, outlining NSW’s position as the number one destination in Australia.

“In Australia, NSW is number one for visitors, number one for visitor nights, number one for visitor expenditure, number one for excitement,” Ms Chipchase said.

“Of all international visitors who come to Australia, more than 50 per cent come to NSW.

“Our huge array of festivals and events in regional NSW and Sydney, the infrastructure investments, and our fantastic new tourism products and experiences – and the way these are promoted both locally and overseas – are all driving strong results for our State,” she said.

Throughout the week, the Destination NSW stand was a hive of activity, generating strong interest from international buyers.

NSW produce was showcased on the stand including Byron Bay Cookies, Duck Creek Macadamias, Snowy Mountains Savoury Treats, Luv Sum healthy snacks and gourmet artisan popsicles from Liana Raine.

The Destination NSW Café served breakfast to travel buyers and media each day and was a popular location for buyers and sellers to meet and relax throughout the day with a cup of Mildura Tea or a coffee from Sydney roasters, The Little Marionette.

On Tuesday evening at the NSW function, guest were treated to a range of NSW produce such as Sydney Rock Oysters, wagyu beef sliders from Casino and NSW wine from the Tumbarumba, Gundagi and Orange regions, before enjoying an exclusive performance from the ARIA award-winning Sydney band The Potbelleez.

The function provided an informal opportunity for NSW sellers to network with international wholesalers and retailers.
