THE SEARCH IS ON FOR MISS PORT DOUGLAS CARNIVALE 2014
The search is now on for a vivacious and well spoken Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 who is 18 to 35 and incredibly passionate about Port Douglas.
Organisers of the popular annual event are hoping to attract a varied selection of applicants who are knowledgeable of Port Douglas Carnivale and the region and can help promote it as a tourism destination.
Barbara Head, owner of Lulus Model Management, said they were very excited to come on board this year as a major event sponsor and were looking forward to being involved with the Carnivale Ambassador program.
“This is not a beauty quest, it is an opportunity for women who are well presented, have great deportment, as well as social etiquette skills and are genuinely passionate about Port Douglas as a home and tourist destination to put themselves forward as an ambassador for the region,” she said.
“We are looking for applicants who show maturity, leadership qualities, are educated about the region and are proud members of the community.”
The successful Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 will represent the 10-day festival from May 16 to 25 and will be required to attend media engagements, events and launches leading up to and during Carnivale.
Port Douglas Carnival Manager Roy Weavers said the crowning of the Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 will be a much anticipated event that will take place on April 5 at a Gala Dinner to celebrate Carnivale’s 20th anniversary.
“The role of ambassador is an important one, which not only provides a wonderful opportunity for local girls with a strong community spirit and great leadership qualities, but also helps us promote Port Douglas as a premier tourist destination,” he said.
The winner of Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 will receive a sash and tiara, a $300 two-day Lulus Model Management Modelling and Self Improvement Workshop, a 12-month casting contract with Lulus Model Management, a photo shoot in Port Douglas Magazine modelling clothing from Cairns Central. A two-night stay at Niramaya Villas and Spa Port Douglas valued at $2000 will also be awarded.
Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 will also have the opportunity to attend ATE14 for one day as a day visitor and official representative of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree. She will be required to attend all official functions on that day. There will also be prizes for the runner up.
Cairns Central is also sponsoring the Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 event and marketing manager Suzy Pickard said they were proud to be involved with this event.
“Miss Port Douglas Carnivale Ambassador 2014 is an event that provides opportunities for local women in a leadership role and helps to promote Far North Queensland.”
