City's Ambassadors Ready to Welcome 90,000 Visitors

A record 90,000 inbound passengers from 39 cruise ships will be officially welcomed by a team of City of Sydney ambassadors when they arrive in the Harbour City in what is being hailed as 'Super February'.

The ambassadors will be at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and two White Bay wharves to meet and greet the biggest ever stream of international visitors in Sydney’s cruise ship history.

Armed with maps, advice and information, the ambassadors will let visitors know about the city’s world-class shops and restaurants, theatres, museums, galleries and open green spaces.

“This successful ambassador program is in its third year and is a joint initiative with Destination NSW and Sydney Ports. The program has proven so popular, we are now taking bookings from cruise operators who want personalised welcomes aboard their ships before passengers disembark,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“We have a terrific team of volunteers who take pride representing our city and who are armed with great local knowledge.

“We want our visitors to have an enjoyable Sydney experience that they will take home and share with their friends.”

Among the ships to arrive in Super February are the Queen Mary (2,600 passengers), Costa Deliziosa (2,800), Radiance of The Seas (2,500), Arcadia (2,300) and MS Oosterdam (1,800).

On March 1, Queen Elizabeth will also steam through Sydney Heads bringing another 2,500 visitors to Sydney.
