Titanic Belfast hailed by Guild of British Travel writers

Titanic Belfast has been highly commended by the British Guild of Travel Writers (BGTW) at a recent awards ceremony.

Shortlisted in the Best UK Tourism Project, the building which stands where Titanic was built more than 100 years ago in Belfast, was recognised at a gala gathering of travel writers at London’s Savoy Hotel.

British Guild of Travel Writers member Peter Lynch visited the Titanic Belfast museum and welcomed its nomination.

He said: “I’ve seen Titanic exhibitions and memorabilia in many parts of the world but nothing like that in Belfast. Even the outside is an impressive sight but inside, it’s so much more than a traditional museum.”

Peter put Titanic Belfast forward for the award of BGTW Best UK Tourism Project. It eased through the initial selection process and was voted onto the shortlist of best new projects at a meeting of top travel writers. The final hurdle was voting by all 270 members of the BGTW.

Since opening in March 2012, Titanic Belfast has scooped a variety of awards, including the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s first 5-star visitor attraction accolade.
