The Hobbit filmed in New Zealand

The second instalment of director Sir Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy has hit the big screen this month. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (TDOS) follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins and company on their quest to reclaim Erebor.

The diverse landscapes of New Zealand will again be on show throughout the film, with breath-taking sets and sweeping vistas that will impress audiences. The Hobbit Trilogy was shot entirely on location in New Zealand over a nine week period. During this time 115 drivers were needed to transport the cast and crew to the 94 beautifully crafted sets created for the trilogy.

A perfect way to take in the sights is to head to the Home of Middle-Earth – New Zealand. Experience your own exciting journey into a special land of reality where magic can be found.

All the stars of The Hobbit Trilogy had their own favourite part of New Zealand. Check out this exclusive video shot on location around New Zealand to find out where these are: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RRA_eVAyH5c
