NSW Tops List of 100 Incredible Travel Secrets

Whites Beach in Byron Bay has topped influential travel magazine Australian Traveller’s list of Secret Travel Destinations in Australia.

NSW received the most recommendations on the list, with 28 destinations in the Top 100. Queensland followed with 18 destinations; Victoria and SA were next with 12 each, followed by WA with 11, NT with nine and Tasmania with eight locations.

NSW also secured four of the Top 10 Incredible Travel Secrets, including Whites Beach in Byron Bay winning at No.1, luxury resort Emirates Wolgan Valley at No. 5, Manly’s Shelley Beach at No. 7 and Jervis Bay’s glamping experience, Paperbark Camp, at No. 9.

The Top 100 Incredible Travel Secrets were chosen by a panel of 11 Australian travel experts, including Catriona Rowntree, Pat Rafter, Tony Wheeler, Dr Chris Brown, Kate Ritchie, Camilla Franks, Tim Ross, Daniel Scott, Sonia Kruger, Andrew McEvoy and Australian Traveller editor, Georgia Rickard.

Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said that NSW was definitely deserving of the accolades.

“We are delighted that some of the best NSW experiences have been recognised by Australian Traveller. It’s these special beaches, quirky accommodations, beautiful World Heritage listed areas, off the beaten track destinations and exceptional food and dining experiences, that provide fresh perspectives on exploring NSW and which will keep visitors returning time and time again,” Ms Chipchase said.
