The Church
Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives and event organisers Music in Paradise have confirmed that Australian band, 'The Church' will perform at the private island resort 3 - 10 May 2025 to the delight of fans. The week-long holiday combines a tropical island escape with three intimate performances on the beach and at the resort's rooftop Sunset Bar with exclusive meet and greet opportunities.

Now in their fifth decade of making music, The Church perform a highly cinematic and atmospheric blend of indie rock, shimmering post-punk, icy dream-pop and psychedelic post-rock leaving audiences mesmerised.

With the same creative energy as the band's early years, the five-piece line-up for 'Under the Milky Way in the Maldives' includes band founder Steve Kilbey (Bassist and Vocalist), Tim Powles (Drummer and Producer across 17 albums since 1994), Ian Haug (Guitarist joined in 2013, formerly of Powderfinger), Jeffrey Cain (Multi-instrumentalist joined in 2020), and Ashley Naylor (Guitarist and long time member of Paul Kelly's touring band).

“We are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with the team at Music in Paradise who organise these fantastic events and to say we are thrilled to have The Church on the line-up for 2025 is an understatement,” said Mark Eletr, General Manager, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives.

The week-long music events, which have become synonymous with Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, combine all the wonderful attributes of an island getaway in the Maldives with some incredible performances, says Mark.

Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives
“When you attend a concert, you are usually some distance from the performers relying on big screens to see them close-up, but that isn't the case here on the island. I think this is what makes the Music in Paradise events at Kandooma so special. Our staff, the guests and organisers are truly within touching distance of their idols. The vibe is informal and relaxed. There's nothing like bumping into one of these performers at the buffet or sharing a story over a beer barefoot on the sand. It's a very special experience.” added Mark.

While the band's early albums Of Skins and Heart, The Blurred Crusade and Heyday were popular, it wasn't until the 1988 album Starfish that The Church broke into the mainstream, with 'Under the Milky Way'. More recently, their 26th album The Hypnogogue launched in 2022 and their world tour, has been attributed to a band renaissance where original and new material was met with praise and acclaim.

Rolling Stone noted Kilbey's powerful bass playing, Vive Le Rock, rating it 9 out of 10, while American Songwriter highlighted the band's fluid moods and shadowy style. Classic Rock acclaimed Kilbey's performance as one of his best.

Located in the South Male atoll just 40 minutes from the airport by boat, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives is a beautiful, natural island paradise. White sand beaches, swaying coconut palms and turquoise waters form the backdrop for leisure pursuits and some of the best scuba diving in the Maldives. Guests can choose from Garden and Beach Villas, two-storey Beach Houses and the popular Overwater Villas. Families are well catered for with a choice of 2- and 3-bed villas and the Kandoo Kids' Club with its fun activities programme. Six food and beverage outlets ensure healthy appetites are satisfied and the flavours of the Maldives are explored. Guests seeking time out and relaxation will enjoy sun-loungers and hammocks dotted around the island. Kandooma Spa by COMO Shambhala offers a tranquil escape for body and mind.

SeaLink South Australia unveils names for new Kangaroo Island ferries

SeaLink South Australia
SeaLink South Australia is proud to announce the names of the two new ferries set to enhance the Kangaroo Island Ferry Service in the first half of 2025.

Following a competition where the community was invited to participate in a naming competition in 2023 that attracted over 1,500 submissions, SeaLink has been working with the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Council (NAC) to seek formal approval, acknowledging the rich cultural heritage connected to Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island.

SeaLink South Australia General Manager Tracy Croft said, “We had an incredible response from the community with over 1500 names submitted, which shows the deep connection with the ferry service to Kangaroo Island from the South Australian community.”

Tracy Croft was joined by Mark Koolmatrie, Deputy Chair of NAC to announce the names of the new vessels as 'Wanggami' and 'Ruwi'.

'Wanggami', pronounced 'Wong Ga Mi', means 'kangaroo' in the Ngarrindjeri language.

'Ruwi', pronounced 'Roo We', means 'land' in the Ngarrindjeri language.

Mark Koolmatrie, Deputy Chair of the NAC, explained, “Wanggami is our word for kangaroo. The kangaroo is symbolic of the lands on which we live and is deeply connected to our history in South Australia.”

Amanda Westly, a Ngarrindjeri artist, shared the meaning behind the name Ruwi: “'Ruwi' refers to the lands we call home—our waterways and sea, to which we have a deep connection. We take care of Ruwi, and in return, Ruwi provides us with food, medicine, and water.”

Tracy Croft shared: “We are truly excited to reveal the names 'Wanggami' and 'Ruwi' for our new ferries set to commence in the first half of 2025. These names beautifully reflect the deep cultural significance and connection of the Ngarrindjeri people to the lands and waters.

Mr Koolmatrie added, “Incorporating Indigenous names and working with SeaLink on this project is a testament to the importance of recognising and respecting our cultural ties to the land and sea. This collaboration is a wonderful example of how different cultures can come together to create something meaningful and lasting.”

The new ferries, 'Wanggami' and 'Ruwi', will be approximately 10 metres longer and two metres wider than the current vessels, providing around 150 metres more vehicle lane space per departure. They are also identical which means freight carriers can book passage on both vessels providing greater flexibility and options to carry goods such as grain and hay for agricultural purposes.

Tracy Croft also explained that the two new ferries are designed to offer a smoother ride, drive on and off in the same direction speeding up the loading process, and improved amenities for travellers.

“With the new ferries SeaLink can undertake more daily departures with up to 22 scheduled crossings in peak season and 14 during off-peak seasons, improving service levels to residents, freight and visitors to meet the growing demand,” she said.

“SeaLink has provided the ferry connection to Kangaroo Island for over 30 years, and our $57 million investment into constructing two new larger ferries underscores our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service to everyone travelling to and from Kangaroo Island.”

Sunshine Coast’s Amaze World revives famous windmill in latest stage of transformation

Amaze World
Tens of thousands of Australians who visited the former Bellingham Maze on the Sunshine Coast in the 1990s and 2000s would remember the large Dutch windmill that stood prominently overlooking the maze complex.

Times changed and Bellingham Maze’s windmill stopped turning and was in desperate need of revitalisation when Adam and Robyn Cheshire came along and bought the property and began a multi-million dollar transformation of the park into Amaze World, which was unveiled in 2022 after the first stage of a five-year renaissance program.

And what an A-maze-ing transformation it has been, culminating in the re-launch of the 13 metre high Dutch windmill. With its completion, those driving along Tanawha Tourist Drive will once again be able to marvel at the sight of the majestic windmill with its spinning blades and new vibrant nighttime lighting.

The windmill renovation project was part of a larger investment in modernising and expanding Amaze World, which has seen the addition of new mazes, puzzles, playgrounds, mini-golf and augmented reality experiences inside the venue, along with enhanced dining and group facilities.

"We are thrilled to unveil the rejuvenated windmill to our visitors," said Adam Cheshire, owner of the award-winning Amaze World. "It's not just a renovation; it's a celebration of history and community. This iconic structure holds a special place in the hearts of Sunshine Coast locals and tourists alike, and we're delighted to breathe new life into it.“

Robyn Cheshire, owner of Amaze World, added, "The windmill has always been a symbol of adventure and discovery for those travelling through the Sunshine Coast. We're excited to welcome both new and returning guests to experience the magic of Amaze World and its iconic windmill.“

Vietnam emerges as second largest tourists’ source for Cambodia

The Anam Vietnam
In 2023, Vietnam emerged as Cambodia’s second-largest source of tourists, marking a significant shift in Southeast Asia’s travel dynamics. The influx of 1.01 million Vietnamese tourists into Cambodia last year reflects a growing trend in regional travel and underscores the deepening ties between these neighboring countries.

Thailand led the pack with 1.82 million tourists, reinforcing its position as a significant feeder market for Cambodia’s tourism industry, as reported by Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism. China, Laos, and the United States followed, contributing to the diverse array of international visitors to Cambodia.

This surge in tourist numbers represents a remarkable recovery for Cambodia’s tourism sector, which welcomed a total of 5.45 million foreign visitors in 2023, a staggering 139.5% increase compared to the previous year. This recovery is a testament to the country’s enduring appeal as a travel destination and its successful efforts to bounce back from the global travel disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The interconnectedness of regional tourism is evident in the travel patterns observed. According to Chhay Sivlin, President of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, half of the foreign tourists visiting Cambodia had included the country as part of a broader itinerary that also encompassed Thailand and Vietnam. This highlights the growing trend of multi-country tours within Southeast Asia, benefiting all countries involved by promoting longer stays and increased spending.

Vietnamese airlines have been quick to capitalize on this growing market. The budget airline Vietjet, for example, recently launched a new route linking Hanoi with Siem Reap, one of Cambodia’s most iconic destinations, home to the famed Angkor Wat temple complex. This expansion of air connectivity reflects the increasing importance of the Vietnamese market to Cambodia’s tourism industry.

Simultaneously, Cambodia has become an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese tourists. In 2023, Cambodia was the second fastest-growing market for Vietnam’s inbound tourism, registering a 176% increase from pre-Covid levels in 2019, trailing only behind India, which saw a 231% increase. This growth highlights the mutual benefits of cross-border tourism between these neighboring countries.

This upward trend in regional travel, with Vietnam and Cambodia at the forefront, indicates a robust recovery and a bright future for tourism in Southeast Asia. It demonstrates the resilience of the travel sector and the enduring appeal of the region’s cultural and natural attractions. With improved air connectivity and a shared commitment to promoting travel within the region, Vietnam and Cambodia are well-positioned to continue thriving as prime tourist destinations.

GET PRE-PAIR’D FOR A NEW STAR ON THE EVENT CALENDAR THIS NOVEMBER

Pre-sale tickets will be available this week (1-2 August, sign up via the website for information) ahead of general tickets on sale from 5 August, for Pair’d Margaret River Region - Western Australia’s brand-new festival taking place over four days this November (14-17) that will see the region’s world-renowned wines paired with food and music in new and surprising ways.

Set in the breath-taking surrounds of the famed Margaret River Region, Pair’d is a ‘wine first’ event, curated through the lens of a sommelier and blended with incredible culinary, music and cultural experiences.

Released yesterday, the event program is as diverse as it is eclectic, offering guests a variety of never before seen, heard or tasted experiences to delight the senses. Ex-Noma alumni will come together at Nature’s Table, an event set amongst towering karri trees offering a foraged and fermented long lunch complemented by the soundscape of nature and ancient storytelling; 18 of the region’s most iconic wine brands will converge in one place at the Grand Tasting offering guests an incredible selection of wines to sample (including access to sought after museum wines); prestigious winery restaurants will be matched with Michelin starred chefs to present world-first Wine Series Dinner collaborations; the spotlight will be cast on the region’s innovators who are making waves in the industry, with exclusive new season releases and tastings at the New Wave Gathering; and daybeds will be rolled out on stunning Castle Bay, as it’s transformed into Margaret’s Beach Club - Australia’s ultimate coastal celebration featuring day sessions by Cafe Del Mar DJ Ken Fan direct from Ibiza, and sunset sessions with Brit Pop legend turned cheese and winemaker Alex James (Blur bassist), all perfectly paired with wines curated by legendary local sommelier Cyndal Petty and grilled seafood platters and dishes crafted by culinary heroes David Pynt (Burnt Ends), Ben Jacobs (Lagoon), Aaron Carr (Yarri) and Ben Ing (Alberta’s). Gourmands who are lucky enough to be at the inaugural event this November can expect the expected as they embark on a culinary adventure in Western Australia’s South West.

Hannah Pike, speaking on behalf of the festival management team, said the program was curated in the same way that a sommelier puts forward the best possible pairings to enhance the sensory experience. “Pair’d is putting forward the best pairings of the destination with the people, the people with the story of place with the wine, the wine with the food, the food with the music,” Ms Pike said. “Pair’d is a ‘wine and food’ event - rather than a food and wine event - celebrating the terroir and incredible wines that are produced in the Margaret River Region. “Much consideration has gone into finding new and surprising pairings to create truly unique events that are accessible for more people to enjoy.” Ms Pike finished.

When asked about returning to the Margaret River Region for Pair’d this November, global rockstar turned cheese and winemaker Alex James said: “It’s a gourmet heaven. A vibrant food culture with independent producers, growers and wine makers everywhere you look. “All that sunshine gives everything so much flavour,” the Blur bassist finished.

Evan Hayter, Executive Chef and co-owner of new refined dining restaurant de’sendent in Margaret River, is excited to present a very special dining experience as part of the inaugural Pair’d program. “An exclusive group of diners are in for a treat as we present the Sushi m Omakase Dinners on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 November,” Mr Hayter said.

"We're teaming up with our friends from renowned omakase and Edomae restaurant Sushi m Tokyo to host two collaboration dinners at our new restaurant de'sendent in Margaret River. Chef Junya Hashimoto crafts refined sushi that has a distinct sense of place, and Sommelier Yoshinobu Kimura seamlessly pairs local and world wines – as well as sake – with cuisine. The Burch family of Margaret River’s Howard Park Wines has generously opened its private cellars for these two dinners, providing access to some extremely rare old-world wines.

“Everyone's looking forward to showcasing the uniqueness of our region and produce; Pair’d will give the world an opportunity to indulge in what we enjoy every day," he finished.

Grand Exhibition of international Designer Kenzo Takada

©High Fashion, 1971 October, Kohei Ohnishi
The first large-scale solo exhibition since the passing of Kenzo Takada, founder of the global fashion brand KENZO, will be held at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery from 6 July to 16 September. Mr. Takada was one of Japan’s first designers to enter the Paris fashion world. In the 1970s, he launched many ground-breaking collections, including his “folklore look” inspired by ethnic costumes, and straight-cut designs reminiscent of Japanese kimonos.

Throughout a career spanning more than sixty years, Paris-based artist Matsutani Takesada (1937-) has continued to create outstanding works in which the expressions, textures, and presence of material objects are interwoven with the surge and flux of life.

In the first half of the 1960s, Matsutani distinguished himself among the second-generation artists of the Gutai Art Association by creating organic forms using vinyl adhesive, which was then a novel material. In 1966 he moved to Paris, where he began printmaking, giving greater depth to his spatial expression through a unique vocabulary of forms, eventually moving on to geometric colour surfaces.

Later he returned to organic forms made from vinyl adhesive which he covered with graphite pencil strokes, breaking new ground in an inimitable way. In recent years his work has seen growing international acclaim, having been included in the Venice Biennale in 2017 and with a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2019. Matsutani's works come to life when a living person's flesh and blood and five senses encounter the manifestations of the materials that comprise them, including canvas and paper, vinyl adhesive and graphite.

The sheer diversity of the works is endlessly fascinating to those who see them. This exhibition introduces Matsutani's entire oeuvre from his beginnings, including his works themselves, documents, and video footage, investigating the broad range of his work from a contemporary viewpoint.

Vietjet reaches agreement to enhance air transport connectivity between Vietnam and Laos

Vietjet
Vietjet and Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos announced an agreement to boost air transport connectivity between Vietnam and Laos. The announcement ceremony takes place in Vientiane with the witness of Vietnam’s President To Lam, Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, and high-ranking dignitaries of both countries.

Vietjet will collaborate with the Department of Civil Aviation of Laos to implement aviation-related projects and further expand air transport activities in Laos, which is expected to create up to 2,500 new jobs in the aviation sector. The airline also plans to establish its own Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) facilities in Laos with Vietjet Aviation Academy to oversee the training of the new workforce following international aviation standards. In return, as the airline’s partner, the Department of Civil Aviation of Laos will provide administrative, legal, and facility support, and coordination with other agencies to facilitate the projects’ execution.

Vietjet's commitment to expanding air connectivity in Laos will bring affordable flight options and quality air services to Laotian and international tourists visiting the country. These initiatives are set to drive economic and social development, enhance trade, tourism connectivity, and cultural exchange among Laos and the regional neighbors.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos highly appreciates the contributions and capabilities of Vietjet, an international airline with fast-growing flight network. The agreement announced today also aligns with the mutual goals and directions set by the governments of both countries in the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in Transport between the Governments of Vietnam and Laos for the period 2016 – 2025.

In 2023, Vietjet launched a regional state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance center in the cooperation with Lao Airlines. Earlier this year, the airline inaugurated its first route between Vietnam and Laos, linking Ho Chi Minh City with Vientiane. The air service has offered more convenient and diversified travel choices to flyers between the two countries and for further connection to Australia, India, South Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and beyond.

Vietnam is currently one of Laos’ largest investors and trading partners, with 255 active investment projects in Laos totaling US$5.5 billion. The projects focus on the industries of transport, tourism, and science and technology, etc, which promotes trade exchanges, sustainable development and shared prosperity of Laos, Vietnam and the region.

The partnership strengthens Vietjet's network within Laos and enhances connectivity for travellers across the region, facilitating smoother travel for tourists and business travellers. It improves access between Vietnam and Laos, allowing travellers from Australia to easily reach Laos and explore the broader region where Vietjet operates. This integrated network supports Vietjet's mission to provide affordable, high-quality air travel and fosters greater economic and cultural ties among countries in the region.

Stargazing in Australia with the World's Oldest Living Cultures

Stargazing in Australia
Exploring star-studded skies around the world has never been more popular. In Australia, where a diverse population of Indigenous groups has called the land home for 65,000 years, a slew of new star gazing experiences is on offer. Travelers can see stars with the world's oldest living cultures and connect to ancient stories of the land.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are regarded as the world's earliest astronomers, using the stars to anticipate seasonal shifts and identify vital food sources. Intricate pathways, known as Songlines, are a network of orally shared routes delineated by celestial markers.

“The rich cultural heritage of our Aboriginal peoples is something that truly sets our country apart from other destinations around the world.” says Nicole Mitchell, Executive Officer, Discover Aboriginal Experiences, at Tourism Australia.

On tours with Discover Aboriginal Experiences operators, travelers can gaze up at the night sky as guides share stories decoding the constellations and connections to culture.

On the recently launched Yellow Water Algohgarring Night tour, in Kakadu, in the Northern Territory travelers can embark on a stargazing journey aboard a Yellow Water vessel equipped with a retractable roof. This setup provides exceptional views of the night sky, showcasing stars, planets, and constellations above Kakadu National Park. Expert guides share astronomical knowledge with the cultural stories of the Gagudju people and Greco-Roman mythology, offering insights into the solar system, moon phases, and distant galaxies. Each two-hour tour presents a unique celestial display, including events like meteor showers and planetary
alignments, alongside the stories behind constellations such as Orion and Scorpius. Guests tune into the night life and nocturnal sounds of the billabong, while learning the history of the world as told in Dreaming stories and illustrated in the stars.

Overnight adventures where travelers can immerse in nature with the world's oldest living cultures are also popular.

Wilpena Pound Resort, a remote pocket of Adnyamathanha Country in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia, is red peaks, gorges and valleys tinged with the silvery glow of eucalypts. There is one road, few settlements and even fewer people. The landscape humbles – geologically and historically. On a hike with an Aboriginal guide to Akarroo Adnya (a
sacred rock-art site), guests are treated to a glimpse of the region's amazing striated rock formations, which create an enormous natural amphitheater (the Pound) and insights into 800 million years of the Earth's history through an indigenous perspective. Visitors can expect starry skiesblanketing an ancient landscape when glamping in the Ikari Safari tents. Home for the night is the solar-powered Ikara Safari tent, where visitors can spend the night in style beneath the stars.

Wula Gura Nyinda Eco Cultural Adventures explores the Shark Bay/Gutharraguda region of Western Australia. A wildlife refuge, this pocket of the state is all powdery white coves and gin-clear waters that naturally attract dolphins, whale sharks and (during migration) the world's largest population of humpback whales (more than 10,000 of them). On Francois Peron
Camping Tours and overnight safaris, guests might catch their own dinner – think fish, or briny oysters cooked over the fire. Then it is time for the Milky Way to shine. With no light pollution for miles, the only thing between guests and a bedazzlement of stars is a swag, spread out on pindan soil.

As vast and open as Australia is, pockets of the country are virtually inaccessible, because their sacred status requires that they be visited only in the company of an Aboriginal guide. Welcome to Mount Dromedary/Gulaga in southern New South Wales, the backyard of Yuin guide, Dwayne 'Naja' Bannon-Harrison. A Traditional Landowner and the founder of Ngaran Ngaran Culture Awareness, Dwayne welcomes guests to Country via song and a smoking ceremony.

Spending two days at Yuin Retreat gives time to grow connection to the land and to learn about ancient customs through traditional yarning circles, and hike to spiritual Gulaga Mountain via escarpments that appear to cleave off the edge of the Earth. Darkness does not temper the natural drama. It's all about Southern Hemisphere stargazing – even from bed in a luxe safari
tent.

The 3-Day Kakadu and Arnhem Land Cultural Adventure with Kakadu Cultural Tours takes guests deep into the wilderness to Hawk Dreaming Wilderness Lodge at Cannon Hill.

The sandstone cliffs that surround this pocket of the state are colored with rock art dating back millennia and guests have exclusive access with guides from Injalak Arts Centre.

For another celestial encounter, join Jarramali Rock Art Tours, in Queensland on an overnight camping excursion for unprecedented views of the cosmos, revealing the intricate rings of Saturn and the majestic cloud bands of Jupiter. In this part of the state, there is no light pollution.

Tourism Australia continues to see a demand from travelers for Indigenous experiences. In response to this increased demand, an expanded offering of Indigenous tourism experiences is available through Discover Aboriginal Experiences, a collective of over 200 quality and authentic Aboriginal guided tourism offerings, which is part of Tourism Australia's Signature Experiences of Australia Program.

Sunshine Coast Resort, Ramada Golden Beach Unveils Stunning $5.8 Million Club Room, and Common Area Refurbishment

Ramada Resort by Wyndham Golden Beach
Caloundra resort, Ramada Resort by Wyndham Golden Beach has unveiled the completion of a spectacular $5.8 million refurbishment of all 60 of its Club Wyndham South Pacific apartments and common area improvements for all resort guests.

A significant tourist market and the region’s largest vacation club, Club Wyndham South Pacific has close to 60,000 members and brings over 10,000 visitors to the Sunshine Coast every year through its club inventory at both Ramada Golden Beach and Ramada by Wyndham Marcoola Beach. These club members spend an estimated $22 million on the Sunshine Coast each year.

The extensive refurbishment of the club apartments encompasses upgraded bathrooms, brand-new kitchens, revamped flooring, stylish furniture, and the installation of external shutters on the balconies. Each one and two-bedroom apartment has been revitalised with a fresh infusion of style, featuring a coastal-inspired theme with various shades of blue, white, and navy.

The thoughtful layout of the apartments maximises space and functionality, contributing to an elevated holiday experience. Prioritising accessibility, each apartment now boasts a walk-in shower, ensuring convenience and ease of use for all club members.

A highlight of the apartment refurbishments is the addition of external shutters on the balconies, serving both functional and aesthetic purposes. These shutters not only offer an option to enclose the balcony, protecting guests from adverse weather conditions, but also extend the dining area for a more versatile experience.

The resort also boasts a revamped pool area with new astroturf, shade umbrellas, pool furniture, and bean bags enhancing the much-loved pool area with a slippery dip. A new pickle ball court has also just opened on the resort grounds. Bikes, e-bikes, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards are now available for hire and are provided complimentary for club members.

“We are proud to unveil this stunning refurbishment project. The completed result reflects our commitment to providing an elevated and contemporary holiday experience for our club members and resort guests. The blend of thoughtful design, modern amenities, and coastal inspiration creates an inviting and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors,” said Nigel Warwick, the resort’s General Manager.

Ramada Golden Beach is managed by Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific as a mixed-use property with Club Wyndham South Pacific apartments, hotel inventory, and private residences. Club Wyndham South Pacific is a leading holiday club in Asia Pacific, offering a network of 52 resorts across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Hawaii, and Europe.

The refurbished rooms are utilised by club members but can be accessed by the public when members choose to exchange their vacation credits for accommodation elsewhere.

One billion trees for a green Vietnam

One billion trees for a green Vietnam
In an effort to combat global climate change and extreme weather patterns, which have caused severe human and property losses, Vietnam has resolved to plant 1 billion trees in the 2021-2025 period. Encouragingly, it is already on track to meet the target within the established timeframe.

In February 2021, Vietnam launched a programme to plant 1 billion trees between 2021 and 2025, with a vision of creating a greener country. Since then, 45 localities nationwide have actively joined in and implemented the initiative.

Quang Tri province has planted trees wherever there is bare land or in areas requiring forest restoration, such as replacement forests or underneath sparse forest canopies.

Special attention has been paid to the selection of plant species suitable with the local climate and soil. Thousands of hectares of Mu oil trees have been cultivated for their highly valuable seeds.

As of now, Quang Tri province has successfully planted more than 15 million trees in urban areas, along rivers, and in coastal regions, significantly boosting forest coverage to nearly 50%.

The initiative attracted the participation of various individuals and organisations, including Gaia Nature Conservation.

As a result of this active involvement, Vietnam has reached 121.4% of the target for the first three years.
