18th Annual Helpmann Awards Final Performers, Hosts, Presenters and Broadcast details announced

Brisbane band Sheppard, music writer Glenn A Baker AM, singer Christine Anu and comedian Anne Edmonds have all been added to the line-up for Helpmann Awards Act II on Monday 16 July at the Capitol Theatre Sydney.

International pop sensation Sheppard will perform their new single “Coming Home” prior to embarking on a national tour, Glenn A Baker AM and Anne Edmonds will join the illustrious list of hosts for the evening that include David Campbell, Tony Sheldon, Jacqueline Dark and Rafael Bonachela.

Other newly announced presenters for Helpmann Awards Act II include ballet royalty Marilyn Rowe CBE AM and David McAllister AM, actor Charles Wu, Michael Lynch CBE AO, The Hon Don Harwin MLC, Graeme Russell and musical theatre star Amy Lehpamer. Newly announced performers to be included in the nights entertainment include actor Maggie Dence and the SSO’s concert production of Funny Girl will now also include Broadway and West End star Caroline O’Connor and the inimitable Trevor Ashley.

Special guest presenters also announced today for the Helpmann Awards Act I on Sunday 15 July at Sydney Town Hall, are actor Mitchell Butel, director Neil Armfield AO, musical theatre stars Verity Hunt Ballard, Matt Lee and Sharon Millerchip, choreographer Kelley Abbey, actor Peter Carroll and musical directors Vanessa Scammell and Max Lambert. They will join hosts Rhoda Roberts AO and Michael Lynch CBE AO.

The Helpmann Awards Act II will broadcast from the Capitol Theatre on ABC on Monday 16 July at 9.35pm. Highlights from the previous night, Act I, will also be part of the broadcast.

The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia’s vibrant live performance industry. The Awards recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia’s live performance sectors including musicals, contemporary music, comedy, opera and classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentations for children, regional touring and cabaret.

The Helpmann Awards are supported by the NSW Government, via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Tickets for the 18th annual Helpmann Awards Act I and Act II are now on sale via Ticketmaster.
