The Yuki-no-Otani snow corridor

Amazing! Nineteen meters! For the first time in 17 years, the Tateyama Kurobe "Yuki-no-Otani" snow corridor has hit a record height of close to 20 meters!

The Yuki-no-Otani snow corridor lies near Murodo at the pinnacle of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, at an altitude of 2,450 meters above sea level.

Even with the arrival of new spring growth in May, this locale remains completely blanketed in white, and it's still not too late to experience the impressive sight of these walls of snow!

This year, walks through the Yuki-no-Otani snow corridor will take place through June 22. Do be sure to check out the tallest snow walls in 17 years!
