SYDNEY FISH MARKET ON THE HUNT FOR THE BEST SEAFOOD IN NSW

The hunt for the best seafood in New South Wales (NSW) has kicked off with nominations declared open for the biennial Sydney Fish Market Seafood Excellence Awards.

Since 1996, Sydney Fish Market has shown its appreciation towards the seafood industry’s top players by recognising individuals and business’ commitment to supplying some of the world’s finest seafood to customers from local, national and international markets. This year is no different with retailers, suppliers and restaurants from right across NSW being given the opportunity to nominate themselves for these prestigious awards.

Sydney Fish Market General Manager, Bryan Skepper, says, “This event is a great way for us to showcase industry frontrunners and acknowledge the individuals and businesses from all sectors of the seafood industry who go above and beyond.”

We are excited to celebrate everybody’s continued support of the seafood industry, and look forward to seeing NSW businesses and individuals recognised for their hard work and demonstrating how great our seafood industry is,” Mr Skepper added.

This year, there are eight industry judged awards up for grabs, including: Excellence in Environmental Practice, Best Supplier (NSW and interstate/overseas), Best Seafood Retailer (NSW), Best Fish and Chips, Seafood Business Award and Star of the Sea. A new category for 2017 is the Safety Award, which looks for a NSW business that has made ongoing improvements to safety in the seafood sector.

The ever popular People’s Choice awards are back, with two awards on offer – Best Seafood Restaurant (NSW) and Best Seafood Retailer at Sydney Fish Market. At the last awards in 2015, Darron’s Seafood, located on the Central Coast took home the ‘Best Fish and Chips’ award, whilst Claudio’s Quality Seafoods was named the Best Seafood Retailer at Sydney Fish Market.

Top contenders in each award category will be invited to attend an exclusive, invitation only event at Sydney Fish Market’s Sydney Seafood School on Thursday, 20 July. The premier event will bring together the best of the best in the seafood industry.
