Bernard Fanning set to rock the Sunshine Coast

  • MAROOCHY MUSIC AND VIS ARTS FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE 2017 LINEUP
  • Featuring Alison Wonderland, The Presets, Bernard Fanning, Gang of Youths and more

Returning Saturday 26th August, 2017 for its third iteration, Queensland’s premiere boutique extravaganza Maroochy Music & Vis Arts Festival is exceedingly proud to present Alison Wonderland, The Presets, Bernard Fanning, Gang Of Youths (and more) in the natural amphitheatre of the New Maroochydore CBD to once again transform the heart of the Sunshine Coast into a pulsating hub of world class art, music and culture.

The MMVAF headliners will be joined by an eclectic showcase of the best musical wares 2017 has to offer including Horrorshow, Anna Of The North (Norway), Northeast Party House, Skegss, Mallrat, Billy Davis & The Good Lords and OKBadlands.

Whimsical by name, utterly infectious by nature, Alison Wonderland made history last year as one of the first females to play the mainstage of international juggernaut Electric Daisy Carnival solo following two sold out Wonderland Warehouse Project tours throughout Australia & New Zealand. Set to close out the Ampi this August, we welcome Wonderland home from a lengthy stint on the Northern Hemispheric summer festival circuit that coincides with the release of her sophomore album. With chart topper “Messiah” in tow, there's little doubt she will whip the crowd into a heaving dance floor.

Boasting one of the most impressive resumes in the game, multi ARIA Award winning duoThe Presets were once hand picked by Daft Punk to accompany their dash Down Under during the definitive period of indie-electro dominance. Ten years on, with rumblings of a new album in the works, the internationally renowned festival favourites are set to deliver an exclusive live set in the Ampi for what promises to be one of the best live performances you will ever bear witness.

Australian rock royalty and former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning will bring his fusion of folk-tinged charm and guitar laden anthems to the amphitheatre, playing songs spanning his ten-year solo discography, including his most recent record; the exquisitely crafted ARIA Award winning album “Civil Dusk”. As an artist in continuous motion, Fanning has accumulated one of the most celebrated and distinct songbooks in Australian music, making him a must-see act of this year’s fest.

Returning to the MMVAF amphitheatre for the second time in just three years is one of the fastest-growing phenomenons in Australia, Sydney rockers Gang Of Youths. At our inaugural event they stirred audiences into a frenzy with a degree of skill and stage presence far beyond their years and have since gone on to conquer audiences the world over. In the wake of their highly-anticipated second album, Gang Of Youths’ signature brooding style will create a simmering, all-inclusive experience that will leave you captivated right until the final strain of frontman David Le’aupepe’s dulcet voice.

Known for their eloquent lyricism and soulful production, Sydney duo Horrorshow proffer their thought-provoking hip-hop hot on the heels of the release of the critically-acclaimed new album “Bardo State”. Having captured our attention online (along with tens of millions of other musically-minded souls) MMVAF are beaming to be bringing Nordic pop-star-in-the-making Anna Of The North for her debut Australian performance and a Queensland exclusive.

MMVAF prides itself on supporting Australian emerging talent and as such we’ve wrangled the rising stars of New South Wales’ surf-punk scene Skegss and self-proclaimed princess of (Northside) Brisbane, Mallrat. Melbourne’s soul-funk crooner Billy Davis will be joined by his aptly-named full band The Good Lords and rounding out this year's mainstage lineup are ethereal Brisbane electronic duo OKBadlands.

Thanks to MMVAF’s one-stage policy, you won’t miss a single act whether you’re parked on a couch in the Ampi, or hugging the barricade.

Not just for the music lovers, MMVAF has once again curated a world-class visual artist lineup. Past attendees will not be disappointed as inflatable and illuminated installations will once again feature heavily on the tree-lined greens of the former golf course. Sunshine Coast artist Lucas Salton’s Spi-Fi Mo-Fo and a collaboration between Design Lab &Tiamco will light up the night as the sun goes down.

This year’s visual arts park will encompass street art with international names like Beastman alongside local artists Frank & Mimi, wielding Ironlak cans in every shade. Their swift movements and finite precision will bring to life the permanent 3D art wall throughout the day & night.

Previously MMVAF has attracted thousands of punters from Brisbane and beyond, and this year is only expected to grow as more people from around Australia make MMVAF a feature of their annual festival calendar.

Tickets on sale Wednesday 17th May at 8am and available from www.mmvaf.com
