The Miss Grand International (MGI) 2017 will run from October 5 to 26 in Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Binh and Phu Quoc of Kien Giang province, and is expected to attract tourists to these destinations.

The information was released by the contest management board at a press conference in Hanoi on April 17.

The board said Quang Binh, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, is the venue for the final of the national costume contest, while Phu Quoc, a resort island, will host the swimsuit and preliminary competitions.

The MGI 2017 is expected to draw 80 contestants from across the world, with Nguyen Tran Huyen My, runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2014, representing Vietnam.

During the contest, participants will visit war-affected children and join other charity activities.

Vietnamese contestant Nguyen Thi Loan finished in the top 20 at the MGI 2016 held in the US.
