TravMedia's International Media Marketplace (IMM) USA praised by media and industry in attendance

Over 400 media and travel PR representatives convened on January 26, 2017, at the newly revitalized InterContinental New York Barclay for TravMedia's inaugural USA International Media Marketplace (IMM).

IMM connected 245 American and Canadian media with 165 PR representatives from 112 travel brands. Collectively they participated in 3,250 pre-scheduled, one-on-one appointments – plus many more networking opportunities across multiple catered events.

An exclusive reception on the 80th floor of the iconic Empire State Building capped off the evening for more than 250 media and industry guests who were transported on OPEN LOOP double decker buses, compliments of host city partner, NYC & Company, and TravMedia.

NYC & Company curated a range of familiarization experiences across all five boroughs for 50 media taking part in the IMM Hosted Media Program (IMMHMP).
Nick Wayland, CEO and Founder of TravMedia said, “The success of our inaugural IMM USA would not have been possible without the support of NYC & Company and their Hotel Committee Members; lunch sponsor and major exhibiting partner Cruise Line International Association (CLIA, which brought 21 exhibiting cruise members); refreshment sponsor Tourism Australia; and afternoon reception sponsor VisitScotland.

Media in attendance included top national travel editors, writers, broadcasters and editorially minded digital influencers from the following outlets: About.com; AFAR; Associated Press; Bindu Trips; Bon Appetit; Chicago Tribune; CNN; Coast Magazine; Condé Nast Traveler; Cruise & Travel Report; Cruise Critic; Everett Potter's Travel Report; Epicure & Culture; eTurboNews.com; Family Travel Association; Family Vacation Critic; Hi Class Living; Fodor's Travel; Forbes.com; Google; Globe Guide; Johnny Jet; L.A. “Huge thanks for a seriously productive and valuable conference. We made a ton of great new contacts and reinforced relationships we already had – both among destinations/vendors and content producers.”

Andrew Nelson, ‎Director of Editorial Projects, National Geographic Traveler, added, “It was a show that was relaxed and efficient with great ideas flowing back and forth across the table.”

Heather Kirksey, Director of Public Relations at Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, commented: “This was my first IMM, and it surpassed expectations. I had some great meetings and look forward to attending the NYC event in the future.”

Deborah Wakefield, Vice President, Communications & Public Relations for CityPASS said, I just wanted to thank you for a tremendous event. I met so many great writers and had so many productive meetings. It was really worthwhile.

Douglas MacKenzie, Director of Media Relations at Visit Phoenix, added: “You folks did an amazing job. What a feat to get so many media in one place. The Intercontinental was a stunning venue.”
Due to the overwhelming success of this year's event, “TravMedia IMM USA will return to New York in 2018, with plans for an even larger venue. Based on the positive feedback we anticipate a terrific turnout again,” said Nick Wayland.
