Vital Tourist Infrastructure Launched at Burrinjuck Waters

It's all about the water at Inland Waters Holiday Parks Burrinjuck Waters with the official opening of the park's $640,000 water treatment plant providing potable water to park guests and a launch of the park's new tourist vessel, NV Getaway valued at $102,198.

Member for Goulburn, the Hon. Pru Goward, representatives from Yass Valley Council, the Hume & Hovell Track, Wee Jasper Reserves and NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust celebrated the completion of the important park infrastructure last week with a guided tour of the water treatment plant facilities and a maiden voyage of the NV Getaway across the dam.

NSWCHPT was formed in 2013 to consolidate the operations of 36 coastal and inland holiday parks and a number of reserves located on Crown land throughout NSW in some of the state's most iconic locations. NSWCHPT incorporates Inland Waters Holiday Parks, North Coast Holiday Parks and South Coast Holiday Parks.

Member for Goulburn, the Hon. Pru Goward said the Burrinjuck Water Treatment Plant was part of a $12 million program funded by the Government's Public Reserves Management Fund to upgrade and renew utilities at the inland parks managed by the Trust.

“The Trust worked with the NSW Department of Industry to manage the installation of the $640,000 water treatment plant at Burrinjuck Waters which was constructed by CRS Industrial Water Treatment Systems,” Ms Goward said.

“The park's new tourist vessel was also funded by a PRMF Grant of $102,061 which is a significant investment to improve the guest experience to the region. The Trust have also invested in the training of staff and crew to man the boat.

“NV Getaway will provide a great service for recreational users of the reserve and be a vital link across the dam for Hume and Hovell Track Walkers and visitors to other great destinations like the Wee Jasper Reserves and Careys Caves.

“Having water available to Australian Drinking Water Standards and a new tourist service at such an important recreational destination and community asset is a positive thing for the region and I congratulate the Trust for the excellent work they have been doing in this area.”

NSWCHPT CEO, Steve Edmonds said the Trust was committed to transforming its parks into 'must go' destinations that meet the recreational and accommodation needs of all NSW families.

“Around $2.9 million has been spent on Burrinjuck Waters for the new Water Treatment Plant and important electrical and sewer upgrades which were completed late last year,” Mr Edmonds said.

“Adding power, sewerage and water of this standard to the Trust's inland parks is important to providing improved services to park visitors, whilst retaining the outdoors experience.”

“The addition of a boat to provide users of the Hume & Hovell Track transport across the dam, give day visitors and park guests services such as fishing charters, dam tours and transport between Wee Jasper and Burrinjuck will also help grow tourism and visitor nights to the reserve.”
