Buho Cocina Y Cantina - the stylish restsurant

Buho is a stylish rooftop restaurant that offers delicious authentic, Mexican street food, with a contemporary twist. It is located above the Waikiki Shopping Plaza in Honolulu and boasts trendy interior and exterior decor, as well as a great view over Waikiki's main drag. If you're lucky you'll also feel the ocean breeze, as Buho is only a short distance from Waikiki beach.

Fire pits and dim lighting help to illuminate the outdoor area during the evening, and contribute to the venue's unique ambience. The overall vibe is generally quite relaxed depending on the night. Lively Mexican street parties are held on the fifth of every month, and local musicians also frequent the restaurant.

Buho's menu features a range of well-known Mexican dishes, all of which were rich in flavour and well presented. We started off with the home-made guacamole, and the delectable prosciutto wrapped jalapeno poppers that are definitely worth trying.

If you're a fan of seafood, we would recommend Puho's award-winning ceviche, which includes fresh yellowtail, serrano pepper and apple cider reduction. The tamarind vinaigrette kale salad is a fantastic healthy accompaniment to some of the popular dishes such as the brisket enchilada or the goats cheese quesadilla.

For dessert, we tried the habanero Mexican brownie, which we could have easily chowed down every other day of the week. On that note, we would definitely have become locals at Buho if we didn't have to leave Hawaii the following day.

Buho's drink menu is also very impressive, and includes a diverse tequila selection. We thoroughly enjoyed sampling a variety of tequila-based cocktails, some of which contained jalapenos that provided them with an extra bite. The menu also features an assortment of Mexican beers and wines. If you don't feel like eating, Buho's bar is the ideal spot to meet up with friends for a drink.

The brilliant service we received is definitely worth a mention. The staff were incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and very well informed on all the dishes. We were recommended a range of meals to try, and all appeared on our table in no time at all.

Overall, we would definitely recommend that you check out Buho Cocina Y Cantina during your time in Hawaii.
