Ancient Water Towns in China

Zhouzhuang – Fu’an Bridge
The “golden triangle” of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou is an area rich with history and culture, and contains many towns that date back centuries and thrive from the waterways on which they sit.

The ancient water towns of this area are relics of iconic China, with idyllic nature, architecture, history and culture imbued throughout them and picturesque scenery at every turn.

In their reaches south of the majestic Yangtze River, each of these water towns has its own attractions, history and flair, but they’re all destinations worth visiting while in China.

The experience of strolling along ancient lanes, passing centuries-old wooden houses, and taking in the scenery of arched bridges and waterside pavilions remains largely the same today as it did many centuries ago.
