New Airport for Xinjiang Region, Making Silk Road More Accessible

China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is a part of the famous historic Silk Road and is a focus of the Chinese government for its potential for tourism visitation.

Now getting to Xinjiang’s outstanding scenic spots and many cultural heritage sites will be made easier, thanks to a new airport opening this month.

Koktokay Airport is located in Fuyun (within Xinjiang) and will receive flights from Urumqi, the capital of the region.

Flights between the two cities take 50 minutes, as opposed to the seven hour travel time by road. China Southern Airlines will fly the route daily.

Koktokay is the 17th airport in Xinjiang, further connecting this region of China with the rest of the country and making getting to this historic area easier for your clients.
