Food Mecca Coming to the Strand on the Southern Gold Coast

The Strand at Coolangatta, formerly Showcase on the Beach, has signed well-known restaurateurs from Sydney and the Gold Coast to join a brand new Dining Precinct opening on Level 1 in November. Highly acclaimed Gold Coast chef, Daniel Ridgeway, the mastermind behind Bin 12 at Burleigh's James Street and Little Truffle at Mermaid Beach, will open Bin 72 in Coolangatta; with tapas-style set menus and a la carte dining, providing an enticing mix of European and Japanese fusion. Owners of Absynthe French Restaurant in Surfers Paradise, Meyjitte Boughenout and Arnault Ollivier, are set to delight diners with their new gourmet burger concept, Burger Trap, to open at The Strand. Locally sourced, organic produce will be on the menu, with a focus on bringing healthy ingredients back into burgers. Award-winning Middle Eastern restaurant Kazbah from Sydney will be joining the menu at The Strand offering Middle Eastern cuisine with a unique Gold Coast feel. Also from Sydney, cult sensation Gelato Messina will be bringing their famous flavours to The Strand – their first Queensland store which will open in February 2015.

The Crossroads Where Dance and Acrobatics Meet

Bleach* is excited to be working with local artist Darcy Grant on the development of a new circus piece, “Sequins in Sinew” which will be performed during the 2015 Festival. Darcy has been awarded the inaugural City of Gold Coast and ACAPTA 2014 Circus/Physical Theatre Creative Development grant to create this work in collaboration with Aerial Angels and Bleach*. “Sequins and Sinew” will strip back the smiles and glamour of the showgirl and reveal what makes her tick. A celebration of sequin clad showgirls and a hard-edged stripped back musing on femininity, muscles and bone. The piece will feature cranes from which performers will spin and tumble high above their audiences.

Warner Bros. Movie World and Bethesda Softworks Join Forces to bring The Evil Within to life at Fright Nights

Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) has entered into a creative partnership with Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media Company, ahead of the highly anticipated release of The Evil Within™, the new survival horror game from legendary directors, Shinji Mikami and the talented team at Tango Gameworks. The partnership will see Warner Bros. Movie World to introduce The Evil Within to their signature night time event 'Fright Nights', in a theme park first. Using The Evil Within as inspiration, a maze will be created that includes real-life characters from the game roaming around the pathways, and is sure to be a test of nerves for anyone brave enough to enter.
