YTL Hotels Wins Tripadvisor 2014 Travelers' Choice Awards

Tanjong Jara Resort
Three YTL Hotels properties have been recognised this year in the Top 25 Hotels in Malaysia category in TripAdvisor 2014 Travelers' Choice. Now in its 12th year, the annual awards identify the world's most outstanding hotels and are based on travellers' reviews and opinions.

One of the three properties to be selected is The Majestic Malacca, which is located in the historical city of Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has also been recognised in the Top 25 Hotels with Exceptional Service Malaysia category this year. The hotel comprises the original mansion dating back to the 1920s, and the extension that has been crafted to build on the architecture. Original porcelain flooring, teakwood fittings, antiques and traditional cuisine provide travellers with a glimpse of colourful, vibrant, Malaccan history.

Award-winning Pangkor Laut Resort, on the other hand, is nestled on a privately owned island along the Straits of Malacca, and has a unique 'One Island, One Resort' concept. The leading resort has won numerous awards and accolades since opening in 1985, and it was here that famed Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti was almost moved to tears by the island's natural beauty and the pristine Emerald Bay. Pavarotti returned to the island in 2002 to launch the award-winning Spa Village.

Another property to be acknowledged as one of the top Malaysian hotels of 2014, is Tanjong Jara Resort. Situated in Dungun, on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, the 'Unmistakably Malay' gem captures the elegance and grandeur of 17th century Malay palaces. Tanjong Jara Resort is steeped in traditions, embracing the region's rich Malay history and culture and emphasising the rejuvenation of both body and spirit through its Sucimurni philosophy.

Another four YTL Hotels' properties have been awarded the 2014 Certificate of Excellence. Cameron Highlands Resort and Gaya Island Resort in Malaysia, Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali in Indonesia and The Surin Phuket in Thailand, have all been commended for consistently achieving excellence in hospitality.

TripAdvisor's chief marketing officer, Ms Barbara Messing said “we're excited to recognise the world's best properties, based on the opinions of those who know them best – the millions of travellers around the globe who come to TripAdvisor to share their experiences.”

YTL Hotels' vice president of sales and marketing, Mr Luke Hurford said “we are delighted that travellers all over the world have enjoyed and appreciated our properties and services.

"To be selected for TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice is an absolute honour, as it is a testament to the fact our visions and efforts are being realised, recognised and valued,” said Mr Hurford.
