Malaysia to host Asia Media Summit (AMS) in 2015

Malaysia will host the Asia Media Summit (AMS) in 2015, after the last time it hosted the summit in 2008. Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Malaysia was the original host of the prestigious event in 2004.

After the summit was held in Malaysia for five consecutive years, it was taken to other countries and will return to Malaysia after six years.

“On behalf of the Malaysian government, I invite all those involved to come for the AMS2015 in Kuala Lumpur, the place of its birth,” said Ahmad Shabery in his speech at the closing of AMS2014, in Jeddah.

The AMS2014, organised by the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and the Culture and Information Ministry of Saudi Arabia was held for three days from May 6.

It was attended by more than 500 media experts from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the Middle East.

Ahmad Shabery said besides discussing and debating on important issues related to broadcasting at AMS2015, the participants would also be able to experience “Malaysia Truly Asia” where Malaysia wished to share its diversity of culture and food, as well as its natural beauty and top shopping centres.

“We invite all of you to the Asia Media Summit 2015 and we say ‘Selamat Datang’ (welcome),” he said to the audience at AMS2014.

Ahmad Shabery also thanked and congratulated Saudi Arabia’s Culture and Information Ministry as well as AIBD for a well-organised summit this year.
