ANNUAL SPORTS PERSONALITY AWARDS 2013-2015

Destination NSW has secured the Annual Sports Personality Awards, a new event to be held exclusively in Sydney.

“I’m delighted that the Annual Sports Personality Awards will be based in Sydney, the home of world class sport,” Ms Chipchase, Destination NSW CEO,  said.

“The NSW Events Calendar features the best and widest range of major sports events in Australia and the Annual Sports Personality Awards will be a celebration of great sporting moments and great sporting heroes.”

The Annual Sports Personality Awards will feature 21 categories across three genres, including performance-based awards (including Male Sports Personality of the Year, Female Sports Personality of the Year and Team of the Year), emotive awards (including Comeback of the Year and Standout Moment of the Year), and fun awards (such as Most Fashionable Athlete and Howler of the Year).

“The Annual Sports Personality Awards are the first of their kind allowing Australian sports fans across the country to nominate and vote for their favourite personalities and moments from all Australian sporting codes.”

“Supporting the Awards highlights why Sydney is Australia’s events capital and the place where Australia comes together to celebrate achievement.”

The inaugural Annual Sports Personality Awards ceremony will be held at the Hordern Pavilion at Moore Park on Wednesday 11 December 2013.

Annual Sports Personality Awards CEO, Trent Taylor, said “We are thrilled to be working together with Destination NSW to bring this event to the iconic city of Sydney, where fans, industry and sporting legends can rub shoulders in a fun, fast-paced celebration of the best of Australian sport.”

ASPAs’ Directors include Frank Brown, former President of MTV Networks Asia Pacific, who has overseen the launch of dozens of entertainment events in Europe, Asia and Australia, and Kurt Menzel, respected Sydney businessman and sports events entrepreneur.
