Woodford Folk Festival: The Family Holiday Destination With A Difference This December

For those heading to Queensland these Christmas holidays, the iconic annual Woodford Folk Festival is a destination that provides world class entertainment and fun for the whole family in a nurturing environment.

Woodford Folk Festival takes place from December 27th - January 1st and is held on a 500-acre environmental parkland, Woodford, located on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, on Jinibara Country, which is just over 1 hour north of Brisbane, at the beautifully created "Woodfordia" village site. Bring the family as a day trip or a week long camping adventure; the Woodford Folk Festival explores the full breadth and depth of cultural, artistic, social and food diversity Australia has to offer.

Whilst the grownups and big kids can enjoy over 430 different acts across the 35 different venues including music, street theatre, circus acts and indigenous and multicultural arts, the little ones can flourish and play at their very own 'Kids' Festival' within Woodford, encompassing eight different venues just for them. Amongst these, "Big Paint" is a workshop hub offering activities like costume creating, candle decorating, festival bag designing and screen printing and the Stardust Theatre concert venue features children's entertainment. There is also a circus lair and for those developing their green thumb, "Green Hands", an environmental art group. The Woodford Folk Festival offers a child minding service for a fee at The Land of Nod, available daily.

Accompanying world-class performances to suit all tastes, the Woodford Folk Festival is proud to present an array of local and international cuisines to satisfy everyone; from the fussiest eater (big and small) to the most daring. A vast number of hand-picked food and beverage stalls set up camp at Woodfordia for 6 days, coming from far and wide to nourish and surprise festival patrons.

Don't forget to catch some of the great performers of the festival including; Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings (USA), John Butler Trio, Angus Stone, Julia Stone and Kate Miller-Heidke or Malcolm Turnbull and Bob Hawke at Woodford's talks program and a spectacular fire event on New Year's Day.

Join the party or simply relax and enjoy the Festival for an unforgettable family experience.

The Woodford Folk Festival is supported by Events Queensland as part of a growing calendar of cultural, sporting, regional and business events throughout the state. To check out some of the other family events on offer while you're there, visiwww.eventsqueensland.com.au.
