Celebrate the Gathering Ireland 2013 with Imelda May & Bell X1

The Gathering Ireland 2013 kicks off on New Year's Eve this year and will run until New Year's Eve 2013. Dubliner Imelda Ray and Irish band Bell X1 will ensure a spectacular start to the year-long celebration of all things Irish. Ireland will open its arms to hundreds of thousands of friends and family from all over the world, calling them home to gatherings in villages, towns and cities.

Countdown Concert

Imelda May and Bell X1 were unveiled yesterday as the acts performing at the eagerly anticipated New Year's Eve Dublin Countdown Concert on 31st December. The Countdown Concert is part of the NYE Dublin festival which will ring in 2013 in style, celebrating the year of The Gathering Ireland 2013 and with Imelda May and Bell X1 at the helm it promises to be one hell of a party!

In addition to the concert there will be a People's Procession of Light. This free, family friendly torch -lit procession is based on a traditional Irish custom dating back to the 1600s, which has been resurrected for the first time in centuries. The theme is "The Journey", which will mark the arrival of the Irish Diaspora and other people from abroad to celebrate the start of the Gathering Ireland 2013. The People's Procession of Light will be followed by firework spectacular and the Countdown Concert.

St. Patrick's Day - People's Parade


As part of 'The Gathering Ireland 2013' for the first time ever, St. Patrick's Festival(14th - 18th March) are inviting up to 8,000 people from around the world to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin on 17 March 2013. The People's Parade is a once in a lifetime opportunity and applications are now open! As a participant in The People's Parade you will march in procession through the streets of Dublin, passing many historic landmarks along the way including the GPO, Trinity College, Dublin Castle and City Hall. You will soak up the vibrant atmosphere; feel the energy, wave to the audience along the 2.5 km route and best of all once you have finished you can marvel at the spectacular performance section of the parade that follows. The President of Ireland becomes the patron of the Gathering Ireland 2013


The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins has been named the patron of the Gathering Ireland 2013. For his first formal event as Patron he was guest of honour at an event in Liverpool on board the Irish navy vessel the L.E. Eithne.
