June Fun Family Events on the Sapphire Coast


MERIMBULA JAZZ FESTIVAL



The chill of winter has descended but there's plenty of hot jazz, welcoming winter markets, great golf and motorsport and a host of other activities to keep you warm on the Sapphire Coast this winter. MERIMBULA JAZZ FESTIVAL
June 8 to 11 inclusive
Hundreds of musicians from all over Australia; 150 bands and the Jazz Quest to find young talent. A fantastic weekend of music and associated events such as the jazz breakfast, street parade and jazz picnic day. BEGA VALLEY CAR RALLY



BEGA VALLEY CAR RALLY
June 9 and 10
The Bega Valley Rally is a round of both the NSW and Victorian State Rally Championships. It features the best of the exciting modern 4WD rally cars as well as some of the classic rally cars from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The event starts at the picturesque Snug Wharf in Eden at 8am on Saturday morning with competitive stages in the forests to the west and south of Eden using some of Australia's very best rally roads. The event will culminate with the Awards Presentation at the Eden Fisherman's Club on the Sunday night.

TATHRA WHARF 150TH BIRTHDAY



TATHRA WHARF 150TH BIRTHDAY
June 12 marks 150 years since the famous Tathra Wharf was opened. While the official birthday celebrations will be held over the September/October long weekend, birthday cake (with candles) is on offer at the Wharf Locavore Café over the weekend. This is the only remaining coastal steamer wharf in NSW and was in use between 1862 and 1952. Restored by the National Trust, Department of Planning and local residents, it's a favourite fishing spot for tourists and locals and the 'start line' for the annual Tathra Wharf To Waves ocean swim (January).

A full day of racing at the Sapphire Coast Turf Club, on Sapphire Coast Drive at Kalaru. There are free buses on offer to and from the track from around the region.

June 15
Ego Lemos, respected as one of East Timor's leading musicians will be performing at Candelo Town Hall at the second "Instruments for Timor Leste concert". He will be supported by the Kade Brown Trio and others. Also on the night, a raffle with the prize of a Cole Clark guitar will be drawn. Cost for the night is $20 adults / $10 students & concessions. Doors open at 7pm.

SPORT

16TH ACE OF CLUBS GOLF CLASSIC
June 17-22
$20,000 in prizes including the King and Queen of Clubs Trophy. Play the Sapphire Coast's top four courses - Tura Beach, Pambula/Merimbula, Eden and Bega.

REFLECTIONS - PHOTOGRAPHS BY WILLIAM THOMAS HALL

William Thomas Hall's passion for photography has resulted in one of the best pictorial legacies of the region. Part One of 'Reflections' (named after a Hall photograph) takes a selective look at working and school life, while Part Two (starts October 8) reveals recreational activities of the region in the early part of the 20th century.
