A visit to California's Gold Country, where gold was discovered in 1849, is perfect any time of year with the state's temperate climate.  But to step back in history or experience that small town feeling, here are some unique and notable events in July to consider when making plans to visit California.

THUNDER IN THE SKY, July 7, Auburn
Rare antique planes, warbirds, air racers, aircraft fly-bys and demonstrations are presented by the Auburn Aviation Association at one of the most exciting and colorful events in Placer County, perfect for the airplane enthusiast.  

159th ANNUAL CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR, July 12-29, Sacramento  
Top-name entertainment, California county exhibits, livestock nursery, culinary delights, award-winning wines, micro-brews, a magnificent midway and nightly fireworks are traditions that attract fairgoers in droves.
