London will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in the first week of June this year. London will be full of joyful events to commemorate Her Majesty’s reign of 60 years. Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne on 6th February, 1952 after the death of her father King George the VI. The Queen has ruled over the country for six decades and has stood witness to enormous social and economic changes that swept her country.

The official celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will take place over a central weekend. The dates of the revelries have been fixed from 2nd June (Saturday) to 5th June, 2012 (Tuesday). An array of events have been planned by the Buckingham Palace. The Queen will kick-start the celebrations by attending the Epsom Derby. On the second day people will be encouraged to share lunches with their friends and neighbours as part of the Big Jubilee lunch. A BBC concert at Buckingham Palace will be held on the 3rd and will be followed by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Beacons celebrations wherein 2012 beacons will be lit by individuals and communities throughout the United Kingdom. On the final day of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations a Thanksgiving service will take place with the formal Carriage procession by the Queen from the Westminster Abbey to the Buckingham Palace.

The only hotel that comes with a Royal Warrant for Banqueting and Catering services, the Ritz is all set to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in quintessential British style. The package costing £2,200 per head will offer you three days accommodation at the hotel. Enjoy your Afternoon teas session at the Ritz which will also include a souvenir menu and a commemorative and an exclusive limited edition bone China dish from the Diamond Jubilee Collection. At the hotels’ lavish Palm court, enjoy a glass of champagne, pastries and finger sandwiches.

Themed food stations will offer a wide variety of dishes to choose from at the Big Jubilee lunch on the 3rd between 11.30 and 4.30 pm.
