7 New Travel Smartphone Apps

Hobart
Tourism Tasmania has just unveiled five exciting new regional touring itineraries that enable visitors to discover some of the state's hidden secrets and local treasures.

Dining haunts and country pubs frequented by locals, little-known cellar doors and boutique wineries, and world heritage wilderness areas are just some of the places visitors can uncover when equipped with the regional touring itineraries and innovative smartphone apps dedicated to Tasmania.

Launceston
The regional touring itineraries are the latest introduction to Tourism Tasmania's travel guides. Housed on www.discovertasmania.com, the video-led itineraries form parts of an interactive Tasmanian map with highlighted routes that showcase what Tasmania has to offer through compelling videos and images. Clicking on the routes takes visitors to the selected region in Tasmania, where an accompanying video provides a virtual journey through the spectacular landscape. Image markers note key locations along the route that visitors can choose to explore further. Visitors can even download a more detailed itinerary to talk over and send to their friends. The seven-day itineraries cover Tasmania's key regions of Hobart and Surrounds; Launceston, Tamar and the North; The East Coast; Western Wilderness and North West Coast.

Complementing the regional touring itineraries are smartphone apps that give visitors a technological edge. The apps can be purchased from the iTunes store or Android Market:
